The following is a message from one of our Citizen's Radio Patrol Volunteers. While on patrol this weekend, he observed a suspicious vehicle and notified 911. The Genesee County Park Rangers responded and they were able to make an arrest. The volunteers did a great job of practicing safe tactics by not approaching the suspicious vehicle and assisting law enforcement with excellent observations and notes. Thank you to all the volunteers that came out this weekend and the Genesee County Park Rangers for your continuous assistance.

"At approximately 2100hrs, I closed the Dort station, and proceeded to patrol the Applegate/McKinley Park area while maintaining radio contact with Patrolers in unit #1. At approximately 2215hrs, at the cul-de-sac on Orville, four blocks north of Peer, I observed a blue van parked near the service gate.

At this time I notified unit #1, and requested back up. Unit #1 and I met in the Vista Center parking lot. I made a second pass through the cul-de-sac and observed that the suspect vehicle had moved into the woods in what I perceived as as attempt to conceal their location.

I returned to the Vista parking lot with unit #1, then contacted 911 dispatch and informed dispatch of the situation.

Approximately 30 minutes later, two Park Rangers met me in the Vista parking lot, where I apprised them of the situation.

The Rangers proceeded to initiate contact with the occupants (1 male, 1 female) and conduct a search of the vehicle which resulted in the discovery of marijuana and alcohol. The male subject was determined to have an outstanding warrant.

The Rangers requested that I pass on their appreciation to the team for their assistance in making this arrest. Our report to them gave them an increased situational awareness in a dangerous situation. On a personal note, they found it refreshing that some civilians 'Had their 6.' "
