In an effort to increase motorist safety, the Floral Park Police Department will participate in the Buckle up New York, Click it or Ticket campaign. The program is sponsored by the NYS Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and is a state-wide program to increase the safety of all motorists and passengers. All drivers and front-seat passengers are required by law to wear seat-belts. The law also requires that all rear-seat passengers must also wear seat belts or be secured in an approved child-safety seat. Floral Park Police Department enforcement patrols will be enhanced beginning May 18, 2026 through May 31, 2026 to promote the safety of all motorists and passengers.

Please be advised that there will be a 5K run this Saturday, May 16, 2026. The race will begin at 9AM.

Parking is prohibited on Tulip Avenue from Plainfield Avenue to Atlantic Avenue Extension/Verbena Avenue from 8:45AM to approximately 11:00AM.

Vehicles will be subject to tow to an alternate location at the owner's expense. Please remove vehicles on Tulip Avenue by 8:45AM.

Parking is also prohibited on Floral Parkway from OLV Church to Raff Avenue after 7:00AM. Please remove cars prior to this hour.

If you live along the red race route, please expect traffic delays and consider moving your car to an alternate location so that runners are safe.

All of Floral Parkway, from Allen Way to Raff Avenue, will be shut down to traffic from 7:00AM to approximately noon.

The remainder of the route will be shut to traffic from 9:00AM to approximately 11:00AM or the end of the race.

Spirit Airlines’ recent demise presented us with an opportunity.

Meet our new Aviation Unit. We negotiated a great deal and will now be doing speed enforcement and fire zone enforcement from Floral Park’s “friendly skies.”

It will be painted black and white and every so often the “cop of the month” will get a ride to someplace tropical of his or her choosing.

Please be advised that due to a motor vehicle into a pole requiring reconstruction by PSEG, Plainfield Avenue will be closed from Clarence St. to Zinnia St. for the remainder of the day. Cherry St. is also closed from Plainfield to Hemlock.

Please avoid the area.
