Today members of the Florence Fire Department assisted a landowner in clearing over 3 acres of their land to remove excess buildup of pine needles and forest debris to provide a natural fuel break in case of wildfire. Is your property safe?

Great Training tonight working on Vehicle Extrication. We have a lot of high speed motor vehicle accidents on US Hwy93. Our Volunteers and Cadets (who are of high school age) learned the basic fundamentals of how to peel a car away from a trapped patient for our EMS personnel to render care. If you are interested in being a volunteer or you have a high school aged student interested in Fire & EMS, come to the station at 234 Holloway Ln (behind Town Pump) on Thursday nights at 7:00pm.

Today Florence Fire was dispatched to the Bass Creek area for an abandoned recreational fire. There was trash everywhere. We would like to remind everyone that unattended/abandoned camp fires can lead to wildfires. Always remember to make sure that your fire is cold out before leaving! Unattended fires and leaving trash behind is unacceptable and can lead to fines by the Forest Service.

Volunteers from our community were called out in Mutual Aid to Stevensville Rural Fire District on a large Wildland fire which had begun to spread into the wilderness. Volunteers from Three Mile Fire Department, Stevensville Fire Department, Florence Fire & EMS, Montana DNRC, and USFS responded to control the fire. Neighbors from The Burnt Fork Ranch were also very helpful in partnering with us to control the spread. No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported. Please take the appropriate care and have the necessary resources to control burn piles. We are expecting in-climate weather for the next 48 hrs with high winds and possible thunder storms.

High winds can cause burn piles to spread out of control in record time. Be safe and avoid burning during windy days. A shout out to our cadets serving the community while on spring break.
