I campaigned on a platform of transparency and infrastructure, and I intend to uphold both throughout my time in office.
As our residents continue to deal with daily issues ranging from brown water to sewage leaks, it’s clear that we have significant work to do right here at home. That’s why it’s troubling to see resolutions like the one below (Resolution No. 2026–07) being proposed by our own elected officials.
We are not a charity, and taxpayer dollars are not ours to give away. When city services are provided outside of city limits, it is my opinion that those receiving the services should pay at least the same—if not more—than our own taxpayers, who also bear the liability if something goes wrong.
Let’s not forget: our residents pay for trash pickup and our failing water system on the same bill—yet our water sometimes looks like it came straight from the bottom of those garbage trucks.
I fully support helping our neighbors during true emergencies. Financial mismanagement, however, is not an emergency. I support shared services during natural disasters, but if we have a budget surplus, I believe that money should be returned to our taxpayers or used to lower rates in the future.
