Let’s Talk About Vacant Businesses in Florence

Vacant buildings don’t just take up space—they represent missed opportunities for growth, jobs, and community vibrancy. Whether it’s an empty storefront on Main Street or a long-abandoned property, these spaces could be so much more.

As your Alderman, I believe it’s time we take a proactive approach. We need to identify the reasons these businesses closed and work to remove the barriers that keep new ones from opening. That means streamlining the process for local entrepreneurs, improving infrastructure, and creating incentives for new investment.

Florence deserves a thriving local economy. Empty buildings can be transformed into coffee shops, boutiques, service providers, or community hubs. But it takes leadership, planning, and vision to turn these spaces into assets.

Let’s bring life back to our business districts—because a busy town is a healthy town.
