As he runs for re-election in 2022, he hopes to continue to serve the community that he loves. Larry Maxey is a lifelong resident of Floyd County who hasn’t just lived in this community his whole life, he has invested in it. xey is a graduate of Armuchee High School and Berry College. He served his country in the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He is the president of Lakes Construction Company and a real estate agent at Garden Lakes Realty. He has been building homes and selling real estate in the Rome-Floyd community for the last 50 years and adores helping people find the perfect place to rest their hat. Maxey has been married to his wife Patricia for 42 years. The Maxeys are active members of New Armuchee Baptist Church where Maxey serves as a deacon and has taught Sunday School since 1972. He is a member of the Rome Board of Realtors and the Rome Home Builders Association. He has been recognized by the Rome Board of Realtors for 40 years of service. Maxey is a former chair of the Floyd County Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Maxey currently represents the Board of Commissioners as Chair of the Public Utilities & Transportation Committee. He also serves on the Rome-Floyd Solid Waste Commission, Highland Rivers Health Governing Board, Rome-Floyd Transportation Policy Committee, and the Rome-Floyd Planning Commission.
