We are super excited to see the local being fully utilized and our community growing, but it’s time to collect your and replenished this invaluable resource. We are currently accepting seed donations to grow our collection of seeds to share throughout the community. We are accepting seeds from herbs, flowers, fruits, vegetables, , and species native to Virginia. It is not necessary to borrow seed from the Forgotten Farms Seed Library at Floyd EcoVillage prior to sharing yours, you can donate seeds anytime the farm store at Floyd EcoVillage is open.
How Do I Donate Seeds?
Community members are invited to harvested from vegetables, herbs, and flowers that they grow. Seeds must be from open-pollinated, non-genetically modified, non-hybrid and/or heirloom plants that are not listed as invasive species by the Virginia Department of Agriculture. reserves the right to refuse or dispose of donated seeds that do not meet these criteria.
Once you have collected some open-pollinated plant seeds, bring them to the farm store at Floyd EcoVillage. We ask you to provide as much information as possible regarding the seed history, including name, variety, harvest year, location, and any tips you have on or saving. It is best to keep seeds in a cool, dry, dark place until you bring them to the seed library. Donations from commercial seed companies in their original packs are also welcome!
