The APMC provides centralized management of medical professionals to improve readiness, retention and recruitment of Army Reserve critical medical personnel.
Soldiers First! The command began in 1978 as the National Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Augmentation Detachment (NAAD). It transitioned to the Army Medical Department Professional Management Command (APMC) with the formation of the Army Reserve Medical Command (AR-MEDCOM) in October 2005. It has a national scope with the objectives:
To correct geographical unit disparity
Improve critical medical
specialty fills within the Army Reserve medical units
Improve recruitment and retention in Army Reserve medical units
Increase Army Reserve wide medical readiness
