The 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade hosted the Black History Month observance Feb. 19, 2020 at the Centennial Club, Fort Bliss, Texas. Imperial Brigade commander Col. John Dawber and Command Sgt. Maj. Brazill welcomed Command Sgt. Maj. (Retired) James T. Carr to honor the generations of African Americans who have contributed so significantly to our great nation.
This years theme celebrated the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the 15th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, providing African American men the right to vote. Cpl. Richard Hargrove and Private 1st. Class Coresha Brunson shared their own reasons why voting was important to them.
CSM(R) Carr shared a personal story as he lived through the tragic assassination of the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His presence alone was enough to motivate each and every Soldier of the Imperial Brigade during this ceremony.
