OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH (DVAM). Getting help for an abusive relationship is difficult, especially during a global pandemic. Public health measures designed to slow COVID-19 have created conditions that may contribute to domestic abuse. This year’s DVAM campaign is focused on informing family and friends of victims about how they can help, and reminding victims that assistance is always available.
For immediate help: Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233, or the Domestic Violence Hotline 24/7 915-269-2013.

Would love for most of you to re-enlist but those that plan to retire or ETS soon here is some great information for you.

A must read for MPs, 31B or 31E. This was just posted by Timothy Fotzgerald (Chief of Staff for the Florida Department of Corrections):

Under the leadership of Major General (Ret.) Mark Inch, Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) has expanded reciprocal training agreements with the US military and is recruiting and highly motivated and qualified correctional professionals and leaders.

Correctional Leadership Positions: Retiring or separating Army staff who have high-level skills in managing prison operations may qualify for assistant wardens or wardens. State housing is provided to all Wardens and many Assistant Warden positions.

Correctional Officer Positions: Army personnel who have completed 31B or 31E Basic Course are eligible for a 228-hour waiver of the Criminal Justice Standards & Training Commission (CJSTC) training requirements. This means you can be ready for CJSTC certification in as little as 6 weeks. FDC provides paid correctional officer training, comprehensive benefits including multiple retirement options, tuition waivers at state universities and excellent health care options. Health benefits for the family start immediately upon hire. State housing options are available at select institutions.

Required coursework for CJSTC certification includes:
• First Aid
• Firearms
• Defensive Tactics
• Officer Wellness & Physical Abilities

Congratulations to Soldier of The Week from 591st CPL Caselli, whom on August 2nd was the first to respond to a suicidal Ideation at the Holiday Inn. Upon arrival on scene, CPL Caselli immediately approached the subject and used interpersonal communication skills in order to control the scene while he waited for other patrols to arrive. Over the course of the incident, the subject became irate and attempted to ingest a bottle of alcohol as quickly as possible. PM9A, SSG Christopher Bell took the bottle out of the subjects hand as CPL Caselli simultaneously apprehended the subject. We are extremely proud of CPL Caselli’s capacity to intervene quickly in order to keep the Fort Bliss Community safe.

Found an item on the side of the road that has a 93D Military Police towel on it. Looking for its owner. I’m hoping that they may be a member of this group and will see this post. Please contact me with description of item. I would love to find the owner as I am sure they are upset over losing this. Must be able to provide specific details as to what it is so I can find the true owner.
Good morning War Eagles, If this post is not allowed or frowned upon please delete it. Many of you know who I am and to those who do not I am Marcos Montalvo and ETS’d from the Army Jan 2020. We all know that sometimes life takes you into a separate direction that sadly involves leaving the military, but its reality. Now that I have been out for a couple of months and have successfully integrated and settled myself and family into the next chapter in our lives, I want to provide any guidance and help to those currently going through or soon to be going through the ETS process. During my out-processing, I encountered a couple of obstacles that I know Soldiers will probably be going through during their out-processing journey. I want to assist anyone that reaches out to me in regards to out-processing questions, any advice, job searching, and example resumes (geared more towards MPs). If I do not reply promptly please be patient, I am currently going through the police academy and hours fluctuate a lot. I want to thank all of the Soldiers for their service to their country and wish you guys have a safe trouble-free weekend. Note: If you’re getting out and not taking advantage of Tuition Assistance (TA) I highly suggest you start going to school, even if its one class at a time.
Delete if not allowed, but I thought everyone must read this...... If any of you have ever been to a military funeral in which taps was played; this brings out a new meaning of it. Here is something Every American should know. Until I read this, I didn't know, but I checked it out and it's true: We in the United States have all heard the haunting song, 'Taps...' It's the song that gives us the lump in our throats and usually tears in our eyes. But, do you know the story behind the song? If not, I think you will be interested to find out about its humble beginnings. Reportedly, it all began in 1862 during the Civil War, when Union Army Captain Robert Elli was with his men near Harrison's Landing in Virginia. The Confederate Army was on the other side of the narrow strip of land. During the night, Captain Elli heard the moans of a soldier who lay severely wounded on the field. Not knowing if it was a Union or Confederate soldier, the Captain decided to risk his life and bring the stricken man back for medical attention. Crawling on his stomach through the gunfire, the Captain reached the stricken soldier and began pulling him toward his encampment.. When the Captain finally reached his own lines, he discovered it was actually a Confederate soldier, but the soldier was dead. The Captain lit a lantern and suddenly caught his breath and went numb with shock. In the dim light, he saw the face of the soldier. It was his own son. The boy had been studying music in the South when the war broke out.. Without telling his father, the boy enlisted in the Confederate Army. The following morning, heartbroken, the father asked permission of his superiors to give his son a full military burial, despite his enemy status. His request was only partially granted. The Captain had asked if he could have a group of Army band members play a funeral dirge for his son at the funeral. The request was turned down since the soldier was a Confederate. But, out of respect for the father, they did say they could give him only one musician. The Captain chose a bugler. He asked the bugler to play a series of musical notes he had found on a piece of paper in the pocket of the dead youth's uniform. This wish was granted. The haunting melody, we now know as 'Taps' used at military funerals was born. The words are: Day is done. Gone the sun. From the lakes From the hills. From the sky. All is well. Safely rest. God is nigh. Fading light. Dims the sight. And a star. Gems the sky. Gleaming bright. From afar. Drawing nigh. Falls the night. Thanks and praise. For our days. Neath the sun Neath the stars. Neath the sky As we go. This we know. God is nigh I too have felt the chills while listening to 'Taps' but I have never seen all the words to the song until now. I didn't even know there was more than one verse . I also never knew the story behind the song and I didn't know if you had either so I thought I'd pass it along. I now have an even deeper respect for the song than I did before. Remember Those Lost and Harmed While Serving Their Country. Also Remember Those Who Have Served And Returned; and for those presently serving in the Armed Forces. Please send this on for our soldiers ... please don't break it. I didn't!
