Base Wide Food Drive!!!

Pegasus team!! We need your help! Starting next week, we will be collecting Canned and Non-Perishable food items to support our surrounding communities. Your donations will support Cumberland (Second Harvest Food Bank), Harnett (Five N Two Food Pantry) and Moore (Food Bank Sandhills Branch) county food banks.

COVID-19 has negatively impacted many families throughout the community. This food drive can help those families get through this difficult season.
This is a great way to kick off the holiday season by helping those in need and to be thankful for our blessings leading up to Thanksgiving.

The Brigade is challenging each of our Battalions to raise the highest number of items donated. Anyone outside our unit looking to donate, please send us a message here on FaceBook.

Memorial Ceremony for SPC Joshua Burts

Join us live here as we pay respects to SPC Joshua Burts.

SPC Joshua Burts was a native of Houston, TX. He enlisted in the United States Army in November 2017, attending Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC, and Advanced Individual Training as a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic at Fort Lee, VA. In May of 2018, SPC Burts reported to Fort Bragg, NC, and was assigned to Headquarters Support Company, 122nd Aviation Support Battalion. He was well-loved among his peers in the Motorpool and throughout the Battalion. He was motivated, eager to hone his skills in his profession, but always quick with a joke or funny comment. His devotion to his unit and his country led him to be placed on the Outload Support Team which directly impacted the success of Task Force Saber in January 2020.

His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.

All Americans, Happy Independence Day!

Every year we celebrate our independence and our birth as a nation on the 4th of July. A day when our founding fathers codified the ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness by signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. We have been in pursuit of that perfect vision and union for 244 years. Since perfection is never truly achieved, we should "never" stop in our pursuit of constant improvement of ourselves, our military, and our Nation.

It's a day usually spent with friends and loved ones at cookouts, parades, traveling, and watching fireworks but, as we all know, this year is different.

This doesn't mean we can't celebrate. I encourage you to do so. But, it just means that we must plan accordingly and be smart. As cases continue to rise across North Carolina, coronavirus is still a serious threat to the health of our Paratroopers and Families right here in the Fort Bragg community. It's super important that we practice safe behavior and remain diligent and disciplined. As Paratroopers, you will strictly adhere to all government and DoD policies to safeguard against the virus. I expect all Paratroopers to lead by example and model safe behavior both on and off duty.

Don't expose yourself or your family. This means wear a mask, practice physical distancing (tactical dispersion), and avoiding the natural tendency to gather in large groups this weekend. Do everything you can to protect yourself, your family, your battle buddy, and the READINESS of your squad. Check conditions before you go - avoid unnecessary risk - see your Doc if you don't feel well.

When we return next week, it'll be critical for leaders to be engaged. We expect a surge in positive COVID-19 testing, just like we saw with Memorial Day weekend. This means we have to be hypervigilant in order to identify and contain those who show symptoms or may have contracted the virus. This is how we prevent the spread and how we prevent the loss of whole squads and platoons to quarantine or isolation.

The 4th of July is an 'All American" tradition. CSM Burgoyne and I want to thank you for what you do to secure the freedoms we hold dear. As you SAFELY enjoy the long weekend, look out for one another and make smart choices. Plan ahead so you don't find yourself in an unwelcome situation. Every one of you is "vital" and we need every Paratrooper in formation next week.

Have a blessed weekend!

ATW!

Here’s the good news: Fort Bragg will celebrate July 4th with the only fireworks show in the area!!!

Here’s even MORE good news: For your safety, we’ll follow COVID-19 guidelines.

Here’s the bad news: Because of the second good news, we will not host our traditional July 4th Celebration on the Main Post Parade Field.

Here’s even MORE bad news: Fort Bragg remains at 100% ID check for gate access. Non DOD ID cardholders or those without a valid visitor pass will not be authorized access to the installation.

Our Fireworks Show will start at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th. For optimal viewing of the show, we recommend viewing from one of the following parking lots: https://bragg.armymwr.com/download_file/view/71943/14701

• North Post PX
• Education Center
• Callahan Physical Fitness Center
• Leadership and Workforce Development
• Cleland Ice Rink
• FORSCOM Headquarters (behind the building)
• Ryder Golf Course
• Main Post Theatre
• Womack Army Medical Center

All parking lots will open at 7:30 p.m. We’ll have folks at each of these parking lots to help direct traffic. Each parking lot is furnished with port-a-lets, hand washing stations and trashcans.

In order to maintain social distancing, every other parking space will be utilized. Please wear your facial covering when unable to maintain social distancing!

These items are prohibited: https://bragg.armymwr.com/download_file/view/71963/14701

Fireworks simulcast can be seen on our page, https://www.facebook.com/fortbraggnc/ and heard on Rock 103.

06/28/2020

A Message from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley and Hollyanne Milley:

"Not all war wounds are physical. Between 2000 to Sept. 2017, about 173,000 service members were diagnosed with PTSD in the military health system. About 139,000 of those service members were diagnosed following a deployment of 30 days or more. Families and caregivers of active duty and veterans experience their own level of secondary trauma while caring for their loved one. Whether you are on the front lines in battle experiencing extreme uncertainty in life or death scenarios or on the home front on constant heightened alert wondering if your loved one is okay, this trauma will shape your daily life, how you view the world and yourself forever. Today, we recognize that PTSD just means you are simply...human. A human being that has had natural reactions to witnessing a tremendous amount of complex trauma. The military needs you--We need you now more than ever. We need you to speak openly about your experiences to others and be vulnerable with your friends, family and fellow veterans. Your voice matters more than ever in the fight against stigma in a culture where you must appear strong on a daily basis. Real strength lies in the courage to reach out and to speak out about your experience so we can all heal together."
