🎉 Did someone say CAKE?! You know it’s a real party when the swords come out! ⚔️

Today, the U.S. Army Western Hemisphere Command celebrated the U.S. Army’s 251st Birthday the best way we know how—by slicing into an amazing cake with a saber!🎂

Keeping with one of our favorite traditions, our oldest and youngest Soldiers, Chaplain Gary Fisher and Pvt. Sean Kalista, along with our longest-serving civilian, Lynne Meriwether, teamed up with USAWHC Commanding General, Gen. Joseph Ryan, and Command Sgt. Maj. Nema Mobar to make the first cut. It’s our way of passing 251 years of wisdom, readiness, and pure Army spirit to the next generation of warfighters. (Plus, calories don't count on the Army's birthday, right? 😉)

Huge shoutout to everyone who came together to celebrate. Happy 251st Birthday to the greatest Army in the world!

U.S. Army Western Hemisphere Command Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion conducted a change of command at Marshall Hall on Fort Bragg, N.C., June 4, 2026. Lt. Col. Kristina L. Sanders took on the role of HHBN commander from Lt. Col. Patrick Barone.

The establishment of an HHBN for USAWHC is part of the new command’s expanding responsibilities across the region, which oversees land forces from Northern territories from Alaska to Greenland through Central and South America. Maintaining a headquarters capable of deploying and executing missions across such a vast region on short notice requires more than a traditional staff structure. The HHBN helps ensure USAWHC remains ready to support operations throughout the Western Hemisphere.

For Barone, the outgoing HHBN commander, the battalion’s growth mirrors the transformation of USAWHC into an operational Army Service Component Command. During the ceremony, Barone reflected on the organization’s progress and the team that helped make it possible.

More than medicine—it’s community in action. 🇭🇳🤝🇺🇸

Joint Task Force-Bravo recently partnered with our Honduran counterparts for a medical brigade in Las Mercedes, delivering critical care to the local community.

But this was no ordinary clinic. Thanks to our Honduran partners, the event was transformed into a space for the whole community—featuring everything from legal assistance to bouncy houses, ice cream, and tacos! 🌮🍦🎈

While patients received essential medical support, families connected and kids played. It’s these moments of shared joy and trust that truly strengthen our medical readiness and make our enduring partnership with Honduras so meaningful.

A time-honored tradition. 🤝🇺🇸

On June 4 at Marshall Hall on Fort Bragg, N.C., the USAWHC Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion officially welcomed Lt. Col. Kristina L. Sanders as its new commander, while bidding farewell to Lt. Col. Patrick A. Barone.

USAWHC Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Brian Miller spoke to the incredible impact of this unique unit. With only 50 personnel, the HHBN supports over 1,000 Soldiers and civilians, enabling the command to resource a combat-ready response force across the Western Hemisphere.

As USAWHC pushes the Army Transformation Initiative forward, the HHBN remains focused on reform, warfighting capabilities, and Soldier readiness.

Thank you to Lt. Col. Barone for your service, and congratulations to Lt. Col. Sanders!

Eighty-two years after D-Day, the legacy lives on. 🇺🇸

Paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division recently returned to Normandy to honor the immense sacrifices made by the brave heroes who fought on these hallowed grounds alongside our Allies. We proudly carry their standard forward today.

🦅 Eighty-two years later, their courage still leads the way.

On June 6, Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) marched alongside surviving WWII veterans in Carentan, France, to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of D-Day.

Among these heroes was retired U.S. Army Staff Sgt. George Mullins. Now 101 years old, Mullins is a true Screaming Eagle who fought his way from Utah Beach through Saint-Côme-du-Mont, Carentan, and Operation Market Garden.

We are honored to walk in their footsteps.

“If we hadn’t transformed, we wouldn’t have the capabilities necessary to help enable the headquarters to deploy,” said Lt. Col. Pat Barone, HHBN commander. “We wouldn’t have the maintainers, we wouldn’t have the equipment, we wouldn’t have the training capability. So, transformation allows us to do that and allows us to do it more efficiently and effectively.”
