There are surely many examples of 2nd BDE nurses who have answered the call during these trying times. Here is a quick highlight of a Penn State Alum who is caring for COVID 19 patients in NYC. We are thinking of them daily as they spread healing and hope to those in need!
2nd "Freedom" Brigade Army ROTC

Please feel free to share your comments of support or shout outs to other 2nd BDE Nurse Alumni.

On this Alumni Throwback Thursday, we’re excited to recognize CPT Hannah Biassini from Columbia, MD! CPT Biassini (formerly CDT Weiner) commissioned into the Nurse Corps in 2014 after earning her BSN. She’s currently working as an intensive care nurse in New York City caring for critically ill COVID-19 patients.
.
.
She began her career as a medical surgical nurse (66H) at Fort Gordon, GA in the Dwight Eisenhower Army Medical Center. She also completed the DOD SAMFE course making her a certified Sexual Assault Medical Forensic Examiner. Following that, she moved to Fort Bliss, TX and worked at the William Beaumont Medical Center primarily as a neonatal intensive care nurse. During this time, she also spent a few months at Landstuhl Army Medical Center in Germany working in their NICU. Most recently, she became an emergency/trauma nurse (66T) after completing the critical care and emergency nursing course at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, TX (where she currently works).
.
.
However, on March 20th, CDT Biassini deployed to Manhattan, NY with the 531st Field Hospital. More specifically, she is working out of the Javits Medical Center which is a convention center that has been transformed into an ICU in support of COVID-19. When asked what advice she has during all of this, she said that despite it being a difficult time, “we can get through it together. Health and wellness are a team effort in these kinds of situations. Keep checking on your battle buddies. Social distancing doesn’t have to mean social isolation as well.”
.
.
Thank you ma’am for all that you’re doing. You’re representing the NLB proudly and we all appreciate our healthcare workers across the country 🇺🇸 #OneTeam #ArmyStrong #ForTheGlory #PennStateProud U.S. Army Cadet Command (ROTC)

As new nurses it is imperative that you continue to grow and learn from everyone around you despite your rank or time as a nurse. It is also your responsibility to continue to share the knowledge you gain to continually ensure patients are always receiving the best care whether they’re your patients or a peers. All of you will continually be ranked against your peers, that does not mean you are in competition with them. Compete with yourself to continually bring the best you to the table. There will always be someone that has a great idea and needs help building upon it. Be that person that supports the cause despite who is leading it.

Featured Final Report: Today's final report is from COL Susan Hopkison for her study "Intervention to Decrease Perception of Horizontal Violence in Military Nursing"

COL Hopkinson's report says, in part: "Within military nursing, HV occurs at a lower frequency than in civilian nursing. The educational intervention alone was not an effective method.
Military nursing leaders are encouraged to engage in conflict management, establishment of positive work environments, holding staff members accountable for their behaviors, and
providing clear guidance on how to manage reported HV."

Have a safe and memorable 4th!!

Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress, approved the Declaration of Independence, severing the colonies' ties to the British Crown.

The U.S. Army was officially founded on 14 June 1775, making it over a year older than the U.S.A. itself.

This 4th of July, think about how our Soldiers have helped to protect this great nation, ensure our freedoms and have continued to preserve our hard fought Independence for more than 244 years.

#HRCoE wishes you and your families a safe and happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

2nd Regiment #AdvancedCamp has completed #CBRN - the chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear training.

Cadets' reactions to the gas chamber vary - some may cough, throw up, and panic, while others don't have as intense of a reaction. Cadet Johanna Keosseian from the University of Mississippi said, "My skin started to burn a little bit and it started to get really hot and I just thought ‘I can’t wait to get out of here.'"
