I don't know how important this to any of you, but it is important to me.
My friend Tom Pennington passed away yesterday. He was 71. Tom and I met there at the 10th Mountain Division Light Fighter Academy in 1989.
I was a new instructor and Tom was a grizzled TAC NCO who was there usually an hour or more before P.T. and a couple of hours after training was completed. In those days we still used the coal heaters for the courses that required students to stay on site.
Tom was a dedicated soldier ... and at that time in his life, he needed to be with other soldiers. From him, I learned more than I can begin to share. He loved the Light Fighter School and I found that working there was one of the most rewarding jobs of my career.
Tom retired in August of 91 and and three months later I moved over to Division HQ as the G3-Air NCOIC. After I retired in 1995, I moved to El Paso, Texas.
I know for you younger guys, in this age of social media and the seemingly unending expansion of possibilities with the internet, this may not sound like a big deal ... but in 1999 Tom and I bumped into each other at a local Walmart in El Paso. Over the years we have been the best of friends and I am going to miss him dearly.
Thank you for listening.
Climb to Glory.
Good morning, I called the number listed here and I do not have an extension to talk to a live person. I have a Soldier reporting on Wednesday and I need some info to approve his travel. Thank you-SFC Rundle
This Eric Kelford guy lists your organization as his place of employment. Just thought you should know that he is openly racist.
I love the tenth, I’ve known about it since Vietnam days! Y’all had gone over you’d have done a dam-dam in those guys! Best you didn’t go though, didn’t lose those bad ass senior NCOs. You guys are the Army! Bad to the bone! God Bless you men, ladies you are the best if the best ! May God watch you and keep you safe! Who dat bad as the 10 th! Nobody! Nobody’s even close!
For those of you who knew or worked with Sgt. Steve Paupst, he has passed away. He was a Romeo and there is a Go Fund Me campaign to help cover his funeral expenses.
Please help me i want to join army
I was the 1st SGT of the 1st course (test) in 1985, we lost over 1/2 of the students. No trucks to take us to the field everything was on our back 120+ lbs had a student with possible heart attack with in 300 meters of the start.
I was in the USAF but if i ever was to join the Army i wouldn't take anything less than going 10th Mountain...i was in a very special AF wing...we had guys with Ranger tabs as well...
