Awarding the Basic Army Instuctor Badge

The Basic Army Instructor Badge was presented to 1SG Abraham Lewis, SFC Gerald Squirlock, SSG Stephen Sigmund, and SSG Charles Salgado. Instructors earning this badge must be fully certified by the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. The awardees successfully facilitated a minimum of 80 hours of instruction as the primary instructor.

This morning BLC Class 06-19 conducted the "Iron Soldier Competition." This compeition is used to determine the most physically fit Soldier of the cycle. The select Soldiers executed:

50X 8 count pushups,
50X rowers,
50X power jumps,
Ammo can carry,
MRE box carry.

The competitors then finished the event with:
50X burpees,
25X leg tucks,
Packing list layout.

Thursday April 25, 2019, the 10th Mountain Division (LI) Non Commissioned Officer Academy held it's Ribbon Cutting Ceremony officially opening the new facility located at 4870 George Avenue, Fort Drum, NY. The Guest Speakers were DCSM Samuel Roark and CSM(R) Joe McLaughlin; the NCOA's 2nd Commandant. DCSM Samuel Roark, CSM(R) Joe McLaughlin, CSM Jeffrey A. SFC Carlos Lane was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for being selected as the Instructor of the cycle for three consecutive cycles. SFC Lane presented the NCOA Commandant two plaques to be placed in the new Academy which will open this spring. Then, CSM Loehr presented him with a plaque. SFC Lane will be leaving the Academy after 3 years of outstanding service. Your boots will be hard to fill.

The NCO Academy had a Holiday party on Thursday, 13 December 2018. Santa gave children gifts. There was a build a snowman out of toilet paper competition, where children decorated a family member to become a snowman. During the Hail and Farewell, several new instructors were welcomed and we said goodbye to SSG Luther Reeder. Gifts were exchanged and all had a great time.

Congratulations to the December 2018 graduates of the Common Faculty Development-Instructor Course (CFD-IC). This 80 hour resident course satisfies the educational foundation for instructor development and qualification.

This course aligns to the Army’s current learning approach, the Experiential Learning Model. The CFD-IC is competency-based and prepares the students to teach, train, and facilitate learning.

These students were introduced to instructor roles, delivery methods, teaching and learning models, and professional and ethical requirements. The course introduces new instructors to classroom management techniques, the basics of building learning objectives and lesson plans, and techniques for effective communication.
