SOCIAL SECURITY TAX WITHHOLDING DEFERRAL:
Starting mid month pay 15 September through December 2020 military members pay will reflect the first paycheck that does not have Social Security payroll taxes withheld.
If you look at the example LES pictured below you will see "FICA-SOC SECURITY" which accounts for 6.2% of your base pay. (ex. 2634.60 x 0.062 = 163.35).

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO YOU?
During the months of September 2020- December 2020 you will see an increase in pay from the addition of taxes not being withheld.
During the months of January 2021- April 2021 you will see DOUBLE Social Security Taxes being withheld to make up for the prior months.

HOW TO PREPARE?
During the months of September 2020- December 2020 you can set aside the amount you typically get taxed in a savings account. This will help balance out the months of January 2021- April 2021 when you start receiving less per month (because of paying double Social Security payroll taxes).

HOW TO CALCULATE:
Base Pay x 0.062 = Amount You Set Aside

Please be aware that beginning tomorrow, Aug 5, we are expanding the list of places that require a temperature check prior to entry. Patrons are required to submit to screening at all CYS facilities, gyms, DFACs and Hays Hall. Any patron presenting with a temperature outside acceptable levels will be asked to reach out to their primary care provider. Soldiers will be referred to CTMC. At the dining facilities, Soldiers will be asked to wait outside while a to-go plate is prepared for them.

These new requirements may add a little extra time to your visit at the facilities we mentioned. We appreciate your patience as we all work to keep our community safe!
