On 9/11, This Canadian Town Welcomed In Stranded Passengers

September 11th is an event that is scarred by one of the most atrocious events in our Nation's history. But one small town of 9000 helped to restore our faith in humanity when they opened their hearts to almost 7000 stranded passengers on that fateful day.

In the wake of the September 11th terrorist attacks, United States airspace was shut down and hundreds of inbound flights needed a place to land. Gander, New...

The Bridge of No Return - Operation Paul Bunyan

Today in history: 1976, Korean Joint Security Area - Operation Paul Bunyan was conducted at the bridge of no return to remove a tree obscuring an observation view. 3 days earlier, 2 American soldiers had been killed for trying to trim the tree. In response, American and South Korean troops sent a convoy of 23 American and South Korean vehicles to cut down the tree instead of trimming it. The tree stump was replaced by a monument in 1987 to memorialize the event.

β€œOperation Paul Bunyan was the most heavily militarized tree-trimming operation ever.” After U.N. forces tried to trim a tree in the DMZ between North and So...

Don't suffer alone.

Did you know that if you text "Home" to 741741 when you are feeling depressed, sad, or going through any kind of emotional crisis, a crisis worker will text you back immediately and continue to text with you? Sometimes it’s best to just talk it out with someone and someone who has no personal bias. Many people, especially younger ones, prefer text to talking on the phone. It's a free service to anyone-- teens, adults, etc.-- who lives in the US. You are not alone. πŸ’›
