FYI IMPORTANT COVID-19 INFORMATION
Please be aware that there is a new procedure for scanning ID cards effective immediately at all of Fort Drum's gates. When vehicles arrive at the gate, personnel will request that drivers hold their ID cards out and then turn them over to be scanned. Gate guards will not be physically handling the cards. Though this is a small change it may cause delays. Please add a little extra time into your commute and bear with us as we all work to keep our community as healthy as possible!

Just so everyone is aware that travel may be slowed due to movement of equipment and supplies.
Please be aware that beginning Monday, Feb 24, there will be a high volume of military vehicle traffic on NYS Route 26 and U.S. Route 11 between Fort Drum and Antwerp, NY, as Soldiers transport equipment in support of a large-scale exercise on our ranges. The convoys are anticipated to continue until the exercise is concluded on March 6. We encourage motorists to be vigilant and urge drivers not to attempt to pass these large groups of vehicles or get in between the convoy participants. If this is your commute area please consider adding a little extra time to your drive during the next two weeks and help us spread the news!
This sounds like it could be fun!

Today in history: 1976, Korean Joint Security Area - Operation Paul Bunyan was conducted at the bridge of no return to remove a tree obscuring an observation view. 3 days earlier, 2 American soldiers had been killed for trying to trim the tree. In response, American and South Korean troops sent a convoy of 23 American and South Korean vehicles to cut down the tree instead of trimming it. The tree stump was replaced by a monument in 1987 to memorialize the event.
“Operation Paul Bunyan was the most heavily militarized tree-trimming operation ever.” After U.N. forces tried to trim a tree in the DMZ between North and So...

Did you know that if you text "Home" to 741741 when you are feeling depressed, sad, or going through any kind of emotional crisis, a crisis worker will text you back immediately and continue to text with you? Sometimes it’s best to just talk it out with someone and someone who has no personal bias. Many people, especially younger ones, prefer text to talking on the phone. It's a free service to anyone-- teens, adults, etc.-- who lives in the US. You are not alone. 💛
