Dear Polar Bear Family and Friends,

Twelve years ago today, on 12 May 2007, our Battalion suffered one of its most devastating days in battle when it lost five Polar Bears in a pre-dawn raid on their checkpoint in Iraq. Two of those Soldiers, SGT Alex Jimenez and SPC Byron Fouty, were captured and considered MIA for over a year until their remains were recovred in July 2008. Throughout the 15-month deployment, a total of 28 Polar Bears were killed in action - a heavy burden.

In honor of our fallen Polar Bears, we are conducting a Workout of the Day which the Polar Bears in Afghanistan will complete on Memorial Day, 27 May 2019. We invite all Polar Bears - past and present - as well as their families and friends to take some time during your Memorial Day Weekend this year and join this this challenging event.

We welcome you to post overall times in the comments section.
