Commandos, regarding the wear of face masks in the on-post facilities, we have the following information to put out:

-It does NOT have to be a mask in the sense of the industrial dust masks, just something which covers your nose and mouth and doesn't fall away of its own accord

-For family members and retirees, your mask may have text, designs, and logos, but nothing offensive or vulgar (the Fort Drum facilities are all family-friendly environments)

-For Soldiers, when IN UNIFORM your mask cannot have any text, logos, or designs (think AR 670-1 to be safe!); when NOT IN UNIFORM, you may wear a mask of any color with any text, design, or logo, but nothing offensive or vulgar (the Fort Drum facilities are all family-friendly environments)

To all of the spouses and family members putting their wonderful arts and crafts skills to work making masks, keep it up! Masks help #flattenthecurve and save lives by reducing the potential of spreading COVID-19, and your efforts are extremely valuable! Your Soldier may not be able to wear your handiwork when in uniform, but when in civilian clothes they can rock your homemade designs. Also consider offering your homemade masks to our friendly neighborhood essential workers (PX and Commissary staff, shoppette staffs, restaurant staffs). You never know whose day you can make brighter with a simple gesture!

Please be aware: As of Sunday, March 29, a relative of a dependent has tested positive for COVID 19 and is in isolation on post. This individual was tested at Samaritan Medical Center and has already been reported among Jefferson County's positive numbers. The person who tested positive and the individuals who were living in the same quarters have been in quarantine since March 24th. Fort Drum medical professionals are investigating possible trace contacts and will notify individuals who fall within Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for additional monitoring and testing. Our current assessment is that the Family has had limited contact with other Fort Drum Community members.
