We had a great time at the Courage BN's Trunk or Treat ♡ It was agreat turn out! We loved seeing everyone dressed up and all the smiles on kids faces. Chaos came together and donated over 135 lbs of candy to hand out. We are especially grateful to these families who hosted a trunk to represent Chaos Co!

Last week our Rifle Platoons conducted Platoon Live Fire Exercises which validates their ability to integrate external enablers into their operation, provide command and control of the platoon, and synchronize direct fire control measures so that the operation is safe, while still preventing enemy forces from influencing friendly forces movement. Immediately following the live fires, the Platoon Leaders, Forward Observers, Fire Support Officer, and Company Commander participated in the Fire Support Coordination Exercise. Platoon Leaders and Forward Observers practiced the application and timing of executing an operation with mortars, artillery, and Apache Attack Helicopters organized to help shape friendly forces' movement to seize an objective. Company Combined Arms Live Fire Exercises are this weekend. Chaos Company continues to train and build proficiency so that our Soldiers are ready!

This past week, Chaos Company platoons conducted situational training that stressed Soldiers and leaders to their limits. The training was deliberately designed to test our platoons under austere operational conditions and prove that we can accomplish any mission even when we are cold, wet, tired, and hungry (sometimes all were happening concurrently).

Our Rifle Platoons all came out of the training having learned something new about themselves as individuals, and collectively as a unit.

#EveryNameTellsAStory Join us each week leading up to the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and the start of the Global War on Terrorism as we honor those who have given their lives in the fight. The stories will culminate with the rededication of the Global War on Terrorism Memorial at the National Infantry Museum on September 11.

#2020 Army SPC Vincent Sebastian Ibarria 22, of San Antonio, died July 3 in a vehicle rollover accident in Farah, Afghanistan. Ibarria was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. He is one of the eleven names being added to the memorial this year.

Operation Freedom’s Sentinel is part of a NATO-led mission to fight against militants in Afghanistan.

SPC Ibarria, who was from San Antonio, was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division in Fort Drum, New York. He served as an Infantryman in the 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team.

According to the 10th Mountain Division, Ibarria joined the Army in August of 2017 and was on his first deployment.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of SPC Vincent Ibarria during this difficult time. The loss of any Mountain Soldier has a lasting impact on every member of the team. The 10th Mountain Division mourns the loss of SPC Ibarria, he will be severely missed from our formations,” said Lt. Col. Kamil Sztalkoper, spokesperson for the 10th Mountain Division.

SPC Ibarria had a number of awards and decorations, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.

Each September, Gold Star Families – the families of servicemen and women killed in service to their country – come from across the country to solemnly dedicate the new names engraved in black granite panels and to rededicate the memorial. Donations to the National Infantry Museum Foundation help fund their visit, pay for the addition of names each year, and assure the monument remains worthy of their loved ones’ sacrifice. Over the course of 9.5 hours yesterday, 108 Light Infantry Soldiers conducted a foot march over a total distance of 22.2 miles. They demonstrated the SKILL and WILL necessary to move over great distances and under load on foot, while maintaining the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to their objective upon completion. The Soldiers of Chaos Company do amazing things every day, but this is one to be especially proud of. All of our Soldiers who conducted the march learned something about themselves and what is necessary to prepare and complete a movement of that nature. 1SG and I continue to be impressed and amazed by the best that this generation of Americans has to offer.

Leave No Doubt!

Chaos Company Squads were validated last weekend at Range 39 on their ability to conduct Battle Drill 2A - Conduct a Squad Assault. Organic rifle squads demonstrated proficiency in marksmanship under field conditions, weapons confidence, understanding of weapons effects, and direct fire control during blank ammunition exercises before they were validated to go “live.”

Squad leaders demonstrated an understanding of both the Science (Direct Fire Control, Effects of Weapons Systems) and the Art (synchronization of key calls for shift and cease fire, judgement at how to set conditions that triggers another Fire Team’s maneuver, and understanding of how to maintain tempo during the assault) of our craft.

Squads conducted their exercises in day and night conditions. 1SG Holsker and I are incredibly proud and impressed yet again by our awesome Soldiers’ Effort and Attitude. Next up: Enter and Clear a Room with live ammunition and Platoon Situational Training Exercises.

Chaos Company executed 24 hours of Squad Level Training this week. Squad leaders received a mission order from their platoon leadership and led their squads through Troop Leading Procedures and the ex*****on of their assigned operation. Squads built upon the concepts that were hammered home during Team Live Fires and practiced React to Contact, Squad Assault, and React to Near Ambush during day and night conditions.

This week, select Soldiers from Chaos Company participated in Pickup Zone (PZ) Control, and Cold/Hot Load Training. The output of the training was twofold:

Our Soldiers and leaders received an understanding from the experts in the Combat Aviation Brigade on what the PZ should look like for the air crews, directly influencing what the ground unit will bring to mark and control the PZ during an Air Assault mission.

And, what a major win it is anytime Soldiers get to load a military aircraft and fly off for a 30 minute trip. Our population that had never been in a UH-60 Black Hawk before looked like they enjoyed their time, and the excited chatter following both lifts was indicative of their joy.

The Army invests in people, and while we were able to provide a unique (but not uncommon) opportunity for our Soldiers, in doing so these Soldiers contributed to increasing the readiness and proficiency of Chaos Company’s ability to conduct an Air Assault operation.

07/27/2021

For the last several years, Chaos Company has deliberately planned and executed the 1LT John Warren Competition as a quarterly training event. The event serves several purposes: recognition of our legacy within Chaos Company, and the sacrifices made by those who came before; healthy competition among our junior Soldiers; and a training opportunity for small unit leaders and Soldiers to practice basic Soldier skills to the point where they cannot get it wrong.

This morning, in honor of 1LT Warren and with the purpose of ensuring we are ready for what our Nation may ask of us, Chaos Soldiers conducted a 6 mile foot march under load of 35 pounds and moved directly into: clearance, disassembly, assembly, and functions checks of an M4 Carbine, M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, and M240 Machine Gun; preparation and transmission of a 9-Line MEDEVAC request; and preparation of a Range Card from a hasty defensive position.

Our Soldiers continue to demonstrate their will and commitment to the unit and its legacy while reminding us all that they truly are the best of their Nation and generation.

Next Friday Courage Battalion will be hosting our Triple Deuce Family Day for our Soldiers and their families.
