The Army is a team composed of Soldiers, Family members, and Civilians. In order for a team to be effective, we must start with fundamental skills and knowledge. In support of World Mental Health Day, we would like to share the following:
- Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide, and can affect anyone at any time.
- Less known signs are body aches, irritability, changes in appetite or sleep, and withdrawal from the team or activities.
- Depression is treatable, please encourage teammates to seek help.
- Early screening and intervention improves long-term treatment results and decreases recurrence.
- Seeking help is a sign of strength.
- If you or someone on the team is experiencing depression, encourage them to seek help either through their primary care physician of a behavioral health professional
- If you or someone on the team is experiencing a behavioral health emergency, please call 911 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 (TALK)
