LTC LeBlanc and CSM Neikirk would like to congratulate the newest members of the Non-Commissioned Officer Corps!

The Mountain Guardians executed a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Induction Ceremony formally recognizing the newest NCOs as they become a member of the time honored corps - the Backbone of the Army.

The ceremony included an air insertion onto an objective, teams executing tactical tasks, a 10-kilometer tactical march and the Induction Ceremony itself. The First Sergeants and Battalion Command Sergeant Major, CSM Neikirk, provided mentorship and guidance to all those participating throughout the event.

Congratulations to the inductees on everything they have accomplished so far in their short time in the Army, and we look forward the outstanding leadership you will provide Soldiers in the future!

I had a last minute reschedule. It's a welcomed break in the fall, so I was happily heading home when I saw a few MPs playing kickball with a bunch of neighborhood kids. Given the injustice that’s been going on in our country, police get a bad rap: Untrustworthy. Violent. Rigid. Corrupt. Even the good cops. It put a smile on my face and something clicked in my heart, pun intended. Serendipity.

So I pulled over to the side, got out of my car (having a camera strapped on you makes you bold), and asked one of the soldiers and the parents of the kids if I could take photos of them playing. They obviously said yes and I just took photos- because I don’t know any other way that can remotely describe this feeling I had tonight.

Protect and serve.

Special thank you goes to the soldiers of 23rd Military Police Company/91st Military Police Battalion, 16th MP Brigade, for so graciously letting me in on their evening.

A special congratulations to SSG Lose, SSG Rodriguez, SGT Armstrong, CPL Castellanos, CPL Strickland, and SPC Castillo, who were recognized by LTC Baideme and the 41st Engineer Battalion for their tactical and technical expertise throughout the exercise!

The Mountain Guardian Family is proud of your continued efforts to make this Battalion the most lethal and ready in the MP Corps!

Great job, Titans!

The Mountain Guardian Battalion wants to extend our congratulations to the Fort Drum Directorate of Emergency Services for their contributions to Fort Drum winning the 2020 Commander in Chief's Annual Award for Installation Excellence.

This award recognizes exceptional management and efforts for the Soldiers and Civilians who operate and maintain military installations. Criteria included a strict inspection of the quality of mission support, community relations, and a thorough evaluation of installation security.

Without the Emergency Services provided by the DES - Fort Drum Police, Fort Drum Fire and Emergency Services, and the entire DES Team, Fort Drum would not be the exceptional community that it is today! The Mountain Guardians are proud to serve with the professional members of the Directorate of Emergency Services and look forward to our continued partnership!

While Regimental Week is meant to be a celebration of our Military Police Regiment history and Soldiers, it is also a time to reflect on and remember those who we have lost.

Military Working Dogs (MWDs) have served the United States Army since 1942, and served alongside Soldiers in every major conflict since. MWDs are unique because unlike our all-volunteer Army, canines do not have a choice to serve. They serve because they are born and bred for war abroad to protect those at home.

MWD Trixi served the United States Army and the Military Police Corps for seven years. In that time she had deployed to Egypt, certified countless times with her handlers, and protected the Community of Fort Drum, New York without fail. She passed away on the 4th of September, 2020 due to complications of old age, surrounded by her fellow canines and in the arms of her handler, SPC Joshua Richter.

The Mountain Guardian Battalion would like to thank MWD Trixi for her faithful service to the 8th Military Working Dog Detachment, the 91st Military Police Battalion, and the United States Army.

On behalf of LTC LeBlanc, CSM Neikirk, and the Mountain Guardian Family, a special thanks to all those who attended today’s memorial for their support and condolences.

LTC LeBlanc and CSM Neikirk would like to congratulate the Berserkers of the 511th Military Police Company for winning the 2020 Mountain Guardian Commander's Cup!

Today, the Mountain Guardians participated in the final two events for Regimental Week. The morning started off with platoon level three-mile race followed by the Sprint Drag Carry competition.

HHD, 227th, and 8th's combined Sprint Drag Carry team came in first place and won the coveted Guardian Tomahawk!

After singing the Military Police Corps a happy 79th birthday, the birthday cake was cut by the command team along with the youngest and oldest members of our Mountain Guardian Family!

---

Tomorrow, our family will be honoring the life one of our fallen Military Working Dogs, Trixi, who had spent her life faithfully serving the Soldiers and Community of Fort Drum. Her memorial service will be held at the Main Post Chapel at 1100.

Another awesome day to be a Mountain Guardian Soldier! Over the past two days the Mountain Guardian Battalion competed in a Cornhole Tournament, Flickerball, Soldier Skills Test, and a Tug of War to earn the coveted Commander's Cup.

Mountain Guardian spouses, sons, and daughters came out to show support to our entire family and provided food and refreshments through unit SFRGs!

Ten Soldiers and Civilian members of the Mountain Guardian Family were recognized for their dedication to serving others as volunteers! Collectively, these volunteers contributed to over two thousand volunteer hours in support of the Soldiers, Spouses, and Civilians across the Fort Drum community!

Our family had the honor of re-enlisting ten Mountain Guardian Soldiers! Through their hard work and dedication, they had collectively earned over $20,000 dollars in bonuses and the opportunity to continue their Army careers at duty stations across the world!

Lastly, LTC LeBlanc and CSM Neikirk would like to congratulate Sergeant Major Patrick O'Rourke and his family on his promotion! The O'Rourke family's tireless support to the Directorate of Emergency Services and the 91st MP Battalion has been vital and appreciated beyond words.

It all comes down to tomorrow, where the final events for Regimental Week are taking place. Check in tomorrow for the announcement of the winner of the Commander's Cup!
