510th HR Battle Drill Training

Soldiers with the 510th Human Resources Company conducted training on Fort Drum to strengthen their skills in Infantry Battle Drills 1-4.

A Battle Drill is a collective action rapidly executed without applying a deliberate decision-making process. (FM 25-101)

This type of training, instructed with the assistance of Attack Company 1-32 Infantry Soldiers, provides a unit the ability to accomplish its mission by executing key actions quickly.
All Soldiers and their leaders must know their immediate reaction to enemy contact.

59th Chemical Company

The 59th Chemical Company’s second and third platoons on Thursday, November 19, 2020, conducted a sensitive site assessment at Fort Drum, NY.

The exercise’s aim is to drive their tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) with a focus on how the two platoons are going to operate going forward using a unified set of standard operating procedures (SOPs).

This will allow the platoons to seamlessly conduct training and carry out missions together.

Updated guidance on COVID-19 mitigation measures and restrictions in GO1F.

Good afternoon, everyone! We have some news to share regarding the installation’s COVID-19 safety protocol. Fort Drum General Order 1F has been released today, and here’s the basic summary for your situational awareness.

- Travel Impacts -

There are currently 10 areas within New York state and the surrounding area that are restricted to service members. These are: Erie County, NY; Nassau County, NY; New York City, NY; Suffolk County, NY; Hampden County, MA; Suffolk County, MA; Essex County, NJ; Allegheny County, PA; Philadelphia County, PA; and Canada.

The 350-mile travel radius is no longer in effect. However, the local travel area is defined as the state of New York and its five contiguous states (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont).

Service members may travel to unrestricted areas within the local travel area with DA-31 approval by the first O-3 in their chain of command. Commanders (O-3) can grant ordinary leave, regular pass or special pass to unrestricted areas.

Service members are restricted from non-PCS/TDY travel outside the local travel area.

Commanders (O-6) can approve travel for medical and legal appointments within off-limit areas (except Canada). Only O-6 commanders can authorize ordinary leave, regular pass or special pass outside of the local travel area. A waiver to travel restrictions may be requested if the travel is necessary due to extreme hardship, humanitarian reasons or PCS orders.

TDY and PCS travel to and from professional military programs is exempt from travel restriction.

Service members have a responsibility to inform their chain of command and submit a DA Form 31 to obtain approval to meet with, or reside with, any non-local visitor or geographically-separated dependent or family member during the regular pass period.

- Gatherings -

Service members are limited to on-post public gatherings of no more than 25 people when outside to maintain physical distancing guidelines. On-post indoor gatherings are permitted when able to maintain physical distancing at no more than 50-percent capacity.

Any indoor or outdoor gatherings at a private residence will be limited to no more than 10 people.

- On-post facilities –

Facilities and venues can continue to operate at up to 50-percent capacity with current COVID-19 safety protocols in place.

All fitness and dining facilities will continue to operate under current occupancy numbers and hours, with physical distancing and cleaning protocols in place.

- School children testing guidelines –

NYS requires that any child sent home from school or childcare for possible COVID symptoms must have a negative COVID test before being allowed to return to the classroom. The following procedures are now in effect:

1.) If a child is suspected of being symptomatic, they will be sent home from their school or childcare facility.

2.) The child is then scheduled within 24 hours for appointment at the Bowe Troop Medical Clinic (if seen on post) or with their off-post health care provider.

3.) If the child is screened by the health care provider and is suspected of being COVID positive, they will be placed in isolation until at least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared. Family members are also required to quarantine as potential close contacts. While a negative test result will not terminate the isolation period, it is required for return to school or childcare.

4.) If the child is not suspected of being COVID positive, they are then sent off post for COVID testing (or receive a test from their off-post health care provider). Once there is a negative COVID test result, there is no requirement to quarantine or isolate for any of the child’s family members.

5.) If the child is diagnosed with another condition by their health care provider, that diagnosis is then verified by lab work. The child will stay at home until symptoms are resolved, and then can return to school with a note from the health care provider verifying their condition.

Please remember that the wear of masks is still required anytime you cannot maintain a distance of six feet or more in all public facilities. Also ensure you continue to comply with state requirements by wearing your mask over your mouth and nose when off post in an area where you cannot maintain a safe social distance.

You can find all the GO 1F updates on the Fort Drum website at www.home.army.mil/drum. Be safe, and have a great weekend!

Soldiers and families with the 59th Chemical Company came together during a Multicultural Potluck to celebrate and share their diversity and cultural dishes with one another.

"There is so much diversity in the U.S. Army, but that's one of our greatest strengths," said Capt. Ryan Oatman, commander of the 59th Chemical Company. "Our Soldiers are taking this time today to express their different experiences in life to build a stronger team."

This type of event helps to ensure fair treatment for military personnel, family members, and civilians without regard to race, color, gender, religion, age, disability, or national origin as part of the U.S. Army's Equal Opportunity Program.

THANK YOU 10TH MOUNTAIN DIVISION FOR BEING THE WARRIORS THAT ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE IN YOUR SERVICE TO THE USA, WE SALUTE YOU! SHALOM
So first off I realize that this is a long shot at best, but I have to ask because if any group of individuals can help it's you guys. I'm looking for photos of HHC, 10th SBDE circa 2008-2009, if it helps narrow things down it was under the command of COL Drake and CSM Fritzing. If anyone wants to know who's asking it's former SPC DiMattia.
How I walk around as a civilian... Be safe my brothers and sisters ,,,, Sometimes our enemy is right here at home.
Hi there ! My brother, Michael Ollis was a soldier stationed with 222nd combat team. He was killed in action on August 28th 2013. I am his older sister who is inquiring about an address for deployed veterans. My school In NJ where I teach is conducting a service project for Veteran’s Day. We would like to send a deployed unit our project . Please put me into contact with anyone who can assist me in my efforts . Deeds, not words !
110th is ready to roll, but they're not the only ones; units all across Fort Drum, from the 548th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion to 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, are #ReadyNow to aid in the #ArmyResponse, should they get the call.
