Operational Evaluation Command leaders officially kicked off Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month April 1 with a proclamation ceremony reaffirming the command’s commitment to , , and .

OEC Commander Brig. Gen. Shannon-Mikal Lucas and Command Sgt. Maj. David N. Sweeney emphasized that SAAPM is about people, trust, and the daily commitment required to build and sustain a climate where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

The ceremony brought together Soldiers and Army Civilians in person and virtually to reinforce OEC’s focus on prevention, bystander intervention, and support for anyone affected by sexual harassment or sexual assault.

Throughout April, OEC will recognize Teal Tuesdays on April 7, 14, 21, and 28, along with Denim Day on April 29, as visible reminders of that commitment.

SAAPM is not just about awareness. It is about action — knowing the resources, understanding reporting options, supporting survivors, and upholding the professional standards that strengthen our teams.

One of the best things about AER is that it provides zero-interest help in qualifying situations. That means Soldiers and Families can get support without falling into high-interest debt or predatory lending traps. That kind of support matters.

Capt. Hauke Harfst of OEC’s Airborne and Special Operations Directorate at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, has earned the Master Parachutist Badge, a major milestone in the airborne community.

This badge is not awarded lightly. It reflects a long record of skill, experience, and consistency.

To earn it, a must complete at least 65 static-line jumps, including jumps with combat equipment, night jumps, mass tactical jumps, and a night jump as a primary jumpmaster. They must also remain on jump status for at least 36 months and complete the Static Line Jumpmaster Course.

This recognition represents far more than one successful day. It reflects years of discipline, training, and performance at a high level.

Capt. Harfst’s achievement speaks to the kind of he is. He leads by example, pushes himself, and motivates others to do the same.

Please join us in congratulating Capt. Harfst on earning the Master Parachutist Badge. Outstanding work — and airborne all the way.

Army Emergency Relief provides no-interest loans, grants and scholarships to active-duty, retired, National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers, their families and surviving spouses, to relieve unexpected and urgent financial distress.

The annual campaign to raise awareness about AER runs through June 14 (the Army’s 251st birthday), and donations are always welcome.

Based 100 percent on the generous donations from Soldiers and American citizens, AER has provided $2 billion in assistance to nearly 4 million members of the Army team since 1942, including $1 billion since 9/11.
