Hey everyone! Thank you all for your messages, kind words, and your support. Many of you know me as Leroy McKenzie, but my legal name is Franklin Leroy McKenzie. I am running as a candidate for Fort Kent Town Councilor. I am a 1992 graduate of Community High School, a veteran of the US Air Force, a graduate of UMFK, and I currently am the Maine State Commander of the American Legion. I have decided to run fo Town Council for several reasons, but the biggest is to continue to be an advocate for the citizens of our great community.

I will say this, I don’t and will not pretend to know everything, but I have the patience and the common sense to seek out the answers. I remember when I graduated from the American Legion National College a few years back, how they told me that they were going to fill my brain with as much information as they possibly could. Then it was my job to take that information and use it to the best of my ability. That is exactly what I want to do as a town councilor.

I am energetic and extremely passionate about advocating. I have done so for many years advocating for the veterans of this community, state, and nation. This plays a direct role as an elected official, as a part of the core job is to represent constituents, support causes, and influence policy, all while advocating for the needs of the community members.

I would love to hear from you over the next few months as I learn more and more what the residents of Fort Kent have to say and what people think is important moving forward.

I have already had some people reach out and I welcome others to do the same.

Thank you!

Franklin Leroy McKenzie
