Every infantry Soldier begins their U.S. Army journey at a recruiting station, but the transformation from qualified applicant to the tip of the spear is forged through the Force Generation Pipeline.

For our 11-Series candidates, that leads them to the U.S. Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, for One Station Unit Training. Over 22 weeks of intense, high-standards training, these trainees are pushed to their limits to prove their mastery in:

⚔️ Tactical movement and small-unit lethality
⚔️ Advanced weapons proficiency
⚔️ The mental and physical resilience required to win on the modern battlefield

At USAREC, we identify the drive and match talent; U.S. Army Transformation and Training Command builds the capability. When these trainees graduate and earn the coveted blue cords, they stand ready to defend our Nation as the world’s most elite ground force.

The journey starts with a single step.

Once these trainees exit the bus, they are one step closer to becoming a U.S. Army Soldier.

As a key milestone in our Force Generation Pipeline, USAREC now oversees the reception of new trainees. This is the moment drill sergeants establish their authority, and the transition from qualified applicant to Soldier officially begins.

This critical step initiates lifelong discipline, competence, and professionalism that defines the well-trained Soldiers USAREC delivers to the operational Army.

For many, Army service is about carrying on a family legacy, especially when your dad is your recruiter 🤝

As the first sergeant of the Birmingham Recruiting Company, 1st Sgt. Jeffery Kirkland has guided countless qualified applicants through the Force Generation Pipeline. But last month, he returned to the Jasper Recruiting Station where his career began 17 years ago, this time to enlist his own son.

Kirkland called it the greatest day of his life. When his son expressed interest in joining the Army he told him, “If you’re really serious about joining the Army you should do it with me… I’m your dad. I’m a subject matter expert in recruiting. You’re going to get the absolute best opportunity.”

The Grand Ole Opry and the Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center honored military members and Veterans Tuesday night with a red-carpet parade and the Opry's annual Salute the Troops lineup, a fitting tribute as the Opry celebrates its 100th anniversary and the nation marks America 250.

Throughout the evening, the U.S. Army Reserve was prominently featured. One of the night's most memorable moments came when Lt. Gen. Robert Harter, 35th Chief of Army Reserve and commanding general of U.S. Army Reserve Command, administered the oath of enlistment to six future soldiers live on the Opry stage, drawing a thunderous standing ovation from the crowd.

Retired Army Lt. Gen. Keith Huber, MTSU's senior advisor for Veterans and Leadership Initiatives, joined Harter, Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander in Chief Carol Whitmore, and several country artists for the salute.

Musical support before the show came from soldiers of the 100th Army Reserve Band and the 313th Army Reserve Band. Among the night's performers were Opry member and former MTSU student Craig Morgan Greer, a Chief Warrant Officer 2 in the Army Reserve. Morgan closed the show with a three-song set that brought the evening to a memorable finale.

USAREC is proud of our superstars across the Accessions Enterprise that were recently awarded the FY25 Maj. Gen. Harold Greene Innovation Award at the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center for their work on the Accessions Document Reduction Effort.

This effort is a critical component driving modernization command-wide and will improve the efficiency and productivity of Recruiters by reducing the number of potential forms used from 796 to 9 and optimize the data field requirements and transformational impact of the Accessions Information Environment build out and fielding.

As the Army transforms, so is USAREC. We are committed to equipping our workforce with the modern tools and efficient processes they need to identify the next generation of U.S. Army Soldiers.

Congratulations to the innovators driving this effort!
