Mai-Kai Restaurant and Polynesian Show is set to re-open on November 1, 2024 according to a story just announced by the Sun South Florida Sun Sentinel:

The 489-seat tiki paradise will reopen with a $17.5 million face-lift, which includes a raft of upgrades set to begin the moment customers drive over the property’s new wooden bridge.

Broward County will remain under a flood watch until Thursday, October 10, 2024. While minimal effects are expected in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea and surrounding areas, please exercise common sense and caution over the next few days.

The ground is already saturated which may cause localized flooding in various areas throughout the County. Be patient, the storm drains will clear.

If you can, keep storm drains near your property clear of debris.

Turn Around Don't Drown; Don't walk or drive through flooded streets.

Please also note that it is illegal to fill sandbags with sand from the beach.

I think it'd be awesome if the Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi added a stop in Lauderdale by the Sea.

The ideal location would be at the docks behind Blue Moon Fish Company. What do you think? Would you be in favor?

It'd could provide tourists and locals with another way to get around the Greater Fort Lauderdale area, without needing a car ... and maybe alleviating some parking and traffic issues in the Lauderdale by the Sea area. Plus it's walkable from the boutique hotels and would bring foot traffic up Commercial Boulevard, past all the shops and restaurants west of Ocean Drive.
