ACS knows that volunteers are vital to U.S. Army Fort Lee community engagement and today we're saluting the shining lights on the Lee CYS volunteer Youth Sports Coaches in action. Thanks for all you do to help keep our youth engaged and on the right track.

Last week, the Financial Readiness Program held three financial sessions for the youth at the School Age Center (Lee CYS) during Spring Break. The Kinders learned about making donations to charity through reading Happy Birthday Mali More by Tiffany Aliche. They drew pictures of items they would donate if given the opportunity and put them in the “Kinder Donation” bag. The first through fifth graders learned about debt from one of Dave Ramsey’s children’s books, Battle of the Chores. They ended their session with a Frisbee vocabulary game. The words included: DEBT, LOAN, CHORES, SAVE and SPEND.

We're still observing Financial Capability Month! Check back tonight at 7 for a tip from the Office of Financial Readiness you can use to teach your kids financial responsibility.

We enjoyed supporting today's U.S. Army Fort Lee community events. First up was the Lee CYS Autism Awareness Walk / Run followed by the SHARP Sexual Assault Awareness Month kickoff. Great day to put Soldiers and Families First. 💪🖤💛
The staff of Lee CYS took time to remember Petra Peplinski - a team member who is greatly missed!
During Winter Break, the School Age Center children had a sweet lesson in budgeting, income, expenses, saving, sharing and spending. When asked "How do people get money?," one savvy student said, "Flip houses." The Financial Readiness Program team is always impressed by their knowledge.

Each Skittle represented income or an expense. After calculating their income, expenses, and surplus or deficit, they were able to enjoy a tasty treat.

The Financial Readiness Program enjoys partnering with the School Age Center to provide interactive financial readiness sessions for Fort Lee's youth.

ACS Financial Readiness Program discussed financial goal setting with the campers at the Fort Lee School Age Center. After reading the book, The Cookie Stand, Miss Jones had Show & Tell and asked them to answer a few planning questions...

> Paper & pen for writing down our goals so we can remember
What's one of your financial goals?

> A Pouch of Coins because financial goals require money
How can you find out how much your goal will cost?

> An Apron & Spoon because MJ baked and sold cookies to earn money in the book
What can you do to get money?

> A Piggy Bank to keep our money safe while we save patiently
Where else can you keep your money while it adds up?

OPERATIONAL STATUS UPDATE: Fort Lee will open on a 2-HOUR DELAY Friday, February 19, due to hazardous winter weather conditions.

ONLY key and essential military and civilian personnel must report to work on time. All other personnel should plan to arrive following the 2-hour delay – do NOT come to work any earlier. Please contact your supervisor for confirmation and details.

Kenner Army Health Clinic and all Fort Lee FMWR facilities will open at 10 a.m., however, parent drop-off at Lee CYS facilities will not commence until 10:30 a.m.

The Commissary will open at 9 a.m. AAFES facilities will open at their normal times.

Installation access gates and dining facilities will operate on their normal schedules, with the exception of Temple Ave. Gate, which will be open 4:30-11 a.m.

All other facilities will open two hours after their normally scheduled times.

Drivers are encouraged to exercise extreme caution when driving in winter weather both on- and off-post. Individuals parking cars on post may wish to avoid parking near trees, as falling branches or trees due to icy conditions may cause vehicle damage. Monitor local news media and other weather-related sources for weather updates that may affect travel. For information on road conditions in your local area, visit www.511virginia.org.

The Fort Lee Hazardous Weather Guide includes important information regarding changes to the installation's operational status, delayed reporting procedures, other ways to stay up-to-date, winter preparedness tips and more. View it online now at https://home.army.mil/lee/index.php/hazweather.
