FREE GEDREADY Practice Tests will be offered by the Career Pathways and Adult Education program and the MCC/Cargill Workplace Education program in recognition of National Adult Education and Family Literacy week September 26-0ctober 1. Students enrolling in the programs will be offered the opportunity to take these tests at no cost, which will provide the student with a shortened version of the Official GED tests to allow a measurement of the potential to pass, as well as prescriptive information about what to study to successfully complete the Official tests. Who is served?
Adult learners are individuals who do not have a high school credential, are basic skills deficient, and/or are English language learners.
What is Adult Education and Family Literacy?
Adult education provides services to individuals so they have the skills necessary to obtain a secondary diploma or its equivalent, transition to postsecondary education and training, and obtain employment.
Family literacy provides English language services to English language learners so they can better support their children’s learning needs and improve the economic prospects of their families.
The Need
The United States ranked in the bottom third of 24 surveyed countries for adult skills in literacy, numeracy, and problem solving (Ref. 1)
