Today, we had the honor of giving Sheila her final call. πŸ–€πŸ’›πŸ–€

There are few moments in public safety that carry the weight of saying a final goodbye to one of our own.

Today, we came together to honor Sheila, remember her service, and recognize the impact she had on the people around her and the community she served.

Her final call was not simply the end of a transmission. It was a tribute to a life of service, dedication, and commitment.

Sheila, your voice may no longer be heard over the radio, but your memory will remain with all of us who had the privilege of knowing you.

From your brothers and sisters in public safety:

Thank you for your service, Sheila.

Your final call has been answered. Rest easy. We’ll take it from here. πŸ–€πŸ’›πŸ–€

Morgan County is proud to begin a beta testing of a Special Needs Registry in the community of Wiggins. The purpose of the Special Needs Registry is to provide our first responders pertinent information regarding a community member with special needs whether they are young or an adult.

This information is going to be provided through the CAD system the first responders already utilize on a daily basis. Basic information such as where they live, a picture, and emergency contact information will be provided. In addition, information such as the specific disability or need, communication information for the individual, behavioral/ safety information, medical, school/program information, and emergency response information. The information will be gathered by paper form or electronically Special Needs Registry Form .

Each family will also be provided stickers for their homes and cars to alert first responders of a registrant that occupies that dwelling or is a passenger of that vehicle.

As a community we are proud to open up new ways to better serve all that reside in Morgan County and allow first responders pertinent information to assist them on calls.

With students returning to class on Aug. 11, please help us keep everyone safe with these quick reminders:

🍎 Slow down in all school zones
🍎 Look twice before turning
🍎 Stop for all crossing guards
🍎 Stop for all school buses with flashing lights and extended stop-arms.

🚸 Our school zones will be extra busy this year, especially with the redistricting of all elementary schools, which are now K-5!

We know school zones can be stressful, but a few extra seconds can help keep our kids safe.
