Rohli Booker - 6th District City Councilwoman and her stance on the decision to NOT support flock cameras.

This was not a hard decision for me. It was never about being against technology or not supporting law enforcement. It was about the process, transparency, privacy and protection.

I pushed for guardrails because I knew the contract could have passed without my vote, and if it did, I wanted protections in place for our residents.

We asked questions. We listened. We had a lot of conversations. And last night, we voted not to continue the Flock license plate reader contract.

Now we have an opportunity to step back, determine what we actually need, put protections in place first, and then decide what technology best meets those needs.

Minority & Women-Owned Businesses Need Our Voices!

During a press conference on Monday, August 17, members of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus (IBLC), along with business owners and community leaders, discussed the impact of Governor Mike Braun’s executive order ending Indiana’s Minority and Women’s Business Enterprise (M/WBE) program.

This decision could have a significant impact on minority- and women-owned businesses across Indiana.

If you know a minority- or woman-owned business that has been negatively impacted by the elimination of the M/WBE program, we want to hear from you.

Please share their experience and encourage them to contact their state legislators and the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus (IBLC).

Our businesses deserve to be heard. Our communities deserve to be represented. And our voices matter.

Please share this post so we can make sure affected business owners know where to turn.
