Camp Bowie District

Camp Bowie District Discover All 6 Miles
Camp Bowie District is two agencies in one! As a non-profit public improvement district (PID 19), CBD is dedicated to implement beautification and streetscape projects along the Boulevard. As a Business Association for the businesses along the Boulevard, CBD promotes its member businesses through marketing and events. Ultimately, CBD exists to spur economic development for the 6-mile corridor.

Camp Bowie District is rich in variety and history! From eclectic art galleries, to noted museums, to iconic eateries and boutiques, to established neighborhoods, to a history of jazz and Thurber bricks — Camp Bowie District is home to more than 800 businesses along its 9-mile stretch from University Avenue to Loop 820 in west Fort Worth. The historic Boulevard is divided into three distinct zones, each offering its own unique feel: The Bricks, Ridglea Village and Camp Bowie West. The Bricks (University Drive to I-30): The Bricks is best known for its iconic Texas Thurber brick roads, which date back to the early 1920s. It has become a cultural hub, housing some of the nation’s best museums — including The Modern, which has been listed No. 2 on Travel + Leisure’s list of top museums. Boutique shopping and family-owned restaurants found in this historic zone also add to Camp Bowie’s unique atmosphere. Ridglea (I-30 to Alta Mere): A 1940s Mediterranean-style influence is showcased throughout the architecture of the Ridglea zone. It houses upscale retail, trendy specialty shops and casual dining. It is also home to the historic Ridglea Theater, a venue at which many nationally-acclaimed classic bands have played. Camp Bowie West (Alta Mere to Loop 820, including the infamous Traffic Circle): Vintage neon signs embody the feel of this segment of Camp Bowie West. When Carswell Air Force Base was established in 1942 (now NAS JRB FW - Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth), this segment of the corridor thrived. The wide boulevard pays homage to the American era of the automobile in the 1950s. You will find a variety of commercial businesses, treasured local eateries, automotive dealerships and an industrial art gallery in this corridor.

Hosting Super Bowl LIV this Sunday? 🏈 🏈 🏈 Our local businesses make it easy. Pick up a platter of BBQ from Riscky's BBQ or get some fantastic steaks from The Meat Board. And Winslow's Wine Cafe, of course, has your wine and cheese. And our longtime fave, Chicotsky's Liquor Store, has pretty much any beer, wine and cocktail supplies you might need. Now kick back, relax and make your predictions: 49ers or the Chiefs?

Last week we celebrated the generosity of FWISD's Boulevard Heights School. Over the past two years the school has generously donated use of their spacious green space as home to Camp Bowie's annual Fall Festival. As a gesture of gratitude, the Board of Directors donated $500 to be used to cultivate their school's garden.

As part of the school's curriculum, students with intellectual disabilities learn valuable life lessons in landscaping and gardening that they can carry with them as they transition into semi-independent to independent lives. Thank you to Boulevard Heights School and its faculty for the use of the property! #CBDistrict #CampBowie

Jan Simus Events will be taking over the stationery and card design, as well as monogrammed cups and napkins. The event company has been around since 1984 and does mostly nonprofit, corporate and private events. They are currently working on their shop (which will be directly across the street from Kay's) and it should be open in a few weeks. Feel free to call or stop by when the shop is up and running!
