Criminal Defense Attorneys on your side!

Are the consequences of a Texas DWI serious if I hold a professional license? What if it's my first-time offense or have been convicted of DWI previously?

Yes, a DWI conviction in Texas is bad in either situation.

If a person holds a professional license, a driver's license is not the only one they need to worry about upon a DWI conviction.

When a person relies on a license to practice a profession, the hardship they face with a DWI conviction will likely exceed those faced by the average person who does not require a license to make a living.

A DWI conviction may prevent a person from being able to renew or, worse, cause a revocation of a professional license.

Luckily, simply being arrested driving while intoxicated does not guarantee you will be convicted. In fact, it's certainly possible to beat a Texas DWI.

But doing so requires that a person hires an aggressive and experienced Criminal Defense Attorney in their local area as soon as possible.

Experiencing a DWI in Texas is scary and overwhelming. Yet, it all too often starts out like any other night. The coworkers invite you out after work. One drink turns quickly into five.

Before we know it, Happy Hour has turned into many hours, and the person has become influenced by the drinks.

You tell yourself the house is just a few blocks down the road, or a quick five-minute drive and decide to drive home. But the journey is short-lived, and the person gets pulled over.

In the blink of an eye, a person is facing a DWI.

❌ One mistake I see people make is deciding against hiring a criminal defense attorney and trying to fight the charges themselves.

While this may seem to be an obvious one, there are a lot of people who feel they can fight their DWI charges.

Abraham Lincoln has this quote "a man who represents himself has a fool for a client." And while that statement may seem harsh, the reality is there are serious risks involved with taking on the legal system without any formal training.

As a result, fighting your own case without formal training can negatively impact both your personal and professional journeys.

It's important to acknowledge and accept that there will be obstacles along the way if fighting a DWI charge alone. One of the worst and most common mistakes is pleading guilty too quickly, for example:

❌Entering a plea other than "not guilty" because the person doesn't think they can win.

❌Accepting a plea deal without talking with an experienced Fort Worth DWI criminal lawyer.

❌ Pleading "guilty" too quickly based on results of a breath or blood test without talking with an experienced Fort Worth DWI criminal lawyer.

The Good News...

✅ Don't think that a conviction is certain, because not everyone accused of DWI is guilty.

There are all kinds of ways that a person may be able to beat DWI charges, which makes it important that an aggressive Fort Worth criminal lawyer is contacted as soon as possible.

✅ Learn potential approaches to DWI charges from the experts at The Medlin Law Firm.

Will an expunction give me a second chance to a Fresh Start?
It’s not easy dealing with a criminal record, all of us make mistakes; however, those mistakes do not always have to follow you forever.

With an expunction, you no longer have to reveal these past indiscretions to prospective employers or educational options.

Expunction is a legal term that refers to when a person’s arrest is erased, deleted, and destroyed. It also means records will not show up on background checks conducted by employers, landlords, or others and you can legally say it never happened.

Is it possible to erase a criminal record? Will an expungement give me a second chance to a Fresh Start?

All of us make mistakes; however, those mistakes do not always have to follow you forever.

Criminal records come with some obvious consequences including heavy fines and potential time in jail or prison, and it can negatively impact a search for housing, employment, reputation, and family life.

What’s Expungement?

Expunction is a legal term that refers to when a person’s arrest is erased, deleted, and destroyed. It also means records will not show up on background checks conducted by employers, landlords, or others and you can legally say it never happened.

How does it benefit me?

It makes it much easier for you to find a job with a clean record. Understandably, most employers are wary of hiring someone with a previous conviction or arrest, no matter how minor it is. With an expungement, you no longer have to reveal these past indiscretions to prospective employers or educational options.

Find out if you’re eligible for an expungement.

I am happy that after 21 years my client John Nolley has been declared innocent! He was wrongfully convicted of murder and sentenced to life. I always believed in his innocence. We tried to prove who the real killer was at his trial but the prosecutor withheld exculpatory evidence and used lying jailhouse snitches. I assisted the Innocence Project in their tireless work over the last twelve years to get his conviction overturned. Justice for John at last.
