Dr. Page had a great time leading the Texas Team of ASCO on congressional visits. He visited the offices of Senator John Cornyn, and Congressmen Colin Allred, Eddie Bernice Johnson, and Kay Granger. Dr. Page said, "This was done virtually this year. So I was not running all over DC. We did all of our congressional visits and meetings on Zoom and Webex."
Dr. Page spoke on improving access of Medicaid patients to oncology clinical trials. Assuring oncologists should be able to choose the most appropriate drugs for cancer patients, not insurance companies with step edits, and preferred formularies. He encouraged funding for cancer research and legislative support to develop and continue telemedicine as an opportunity to deliver healthcare.

Dear Fabulous Women,
Some people make choices that change lives. Thank you for being one of them! You quite literally saved my daughter’s life. The scared young woman on the other end of the phone line made the call to your foundation to see if you could help her with her recent diagnosis of an aggressive breast cancer. My 34-year-old daughter, Danielle, was self-employed and could not afford health insurance. You were, and still are her angels. Your calm reassurance that you would get her the medical help she needed immediately, was exactly what she needed to hear.
Because of Careity Foundation, Danielle had a specialized MRI within a few days that showed two satellite tumors that had not shown up on the 3D mammogram, nor the sonogram. One of the tumors was 4mm from her chest wall! Careity Foundation acted quickly. Within the week, Danielle visits the Oncologist, Surgeon and Heart Specialist! The next week, Danielle had her port surgery and her first chemotherapy infusion. Only three weeks had passed by. We had checked with a couple of other local oncologist, and their first appointment was not until after Danielle had already had her first chemotherapy infusion.
Talk about a Godsend!
The foundation did not stop there! They visited or called us numerous times to check on Danielle. They fed us during the virus pandemic. The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and all of the staff are incredible. Always so kind and awesome caregivers especially during this pandemic. I cannot tell you how much they have blessed our family.
I will leave you with these words; my daughter’s mastectomy pathology report came back with zero evidence of cancer. If that does not give you goosebumps, I do not know what will. My daughter is now cancer free, and we could NOT have handled this journey without the caring team at Careity Foundation.
So incredibly grateful,
Karen D

There are many places where people with cancer can go for treatment, but not all cancer care is created equally. Community oncology is different because the doctors responsible for treating patients actually own and operate their local practices. Receiving cancer care at practices right in their own...

Super C has flown to Scott Assante for his unrelenting and self-sacrificing support of the COVID screening process. But, there's more. Amid being responsible for daily coverage of the Magnolia screening station, he has helped all outlying facilities with their screening process and continued his normal role as our patient and employee advocate when situations get complicated.

Thanks for always keeping a cool head and a sense of humor Scott!
