Read Fort Worth

Read Fort Worth We are forming an unprecedented coalition to ensure that 100 percent of Fort Worth third-graders are reading to learn - not learning to read - by 2025.
(7)

Read Fort Worth is a collective impact effort mobilizing educators, funders, government, businesses, parents and community organizations to see that 100 percent of Fort Worth ISD third-graders read at a college-ready pace by 2025. The ability to read on level by third grade is critical to lifelong learning. Third grade is the time when children must move from learning to read to reading to learn to succeed in school. Read Fort Worth has extraordinary leadership in Mayor Betsy Price, Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Kent P. Scribner and Matt Rose, executive chairman of BNSF Railway, who leads the organization's Executive Council.

Mission: To align partners, strategies and resources to significantly improve early childhood literacy so that 100 percent of Fort Worth third-graders are reading on grade level by 2025.

Such a heartwarming story. ❤️ Gleniece Robinson, a wonderful woman dedicated to literacy and providing others access to information, retires after a 40-year career in public service.

Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for today's youth and tomorrow's leaders.

Enjoy!

#SomethingGood from NBC DFW: It's the last day on the job for longtime Fort Worth Public Library Director Gleniece Robinson. The former librarian retires today after a 40-year career in public service. She became an advocate for public libraries in spite of a childhood in Alabama where she was not allowed to enter them.

“I would bet you it was probably in college before I set foot in a public library, but I still believe in the value of public libraries. And that’s one reason I worked so hard to make public libraries a mainstream of city services and to let people know they have these services available to them," she told NBC5.

The Real Estate Council of Greater Fort Worth

Look What We Did Together for Read Fort Worth!!

Through the participation of 15 teams competing in a scavenger hunt and trivia night we were able to raise $7,000 for Read Fort Worth!!

A few words we received from Read Fort Worth:

On behalf of Read Fort Worth staff, board, and the students we serve, a heartfelt thank you for your donation to Read Fort Worth on North Texas Giving Day! We are excited to let you know that your donation will be doubled through a $1 for $1 match provided by The Morris Foundation Trustees to incentivize board donations on North Texas Giving Day. This is an initiative The Morris Foundation offers nonprofits whom we support through our annual grant making process.

With the $1 for $1 match, this means that your $7,349.30 donation contributed $14,698.60 to Read Fort Worth. Thank you!

Your donation will be spent to support more students like the young boy whom I delivered reading curriculum to this summer through our Family Front Porch Visits. When I handed him books, he said, “It feels like Christmas to get new books that I can learn to read.” Thank you for your financial support to ensure more students like this young boy feel the job of learning to read.
