Kentucky earned a 2026 Silver Shovel Award from Area Development, and Louisville projects led the way.

The Silver Shovel Award recognizes the most impactful economic development wins by state population category. Kentucky's win in the 3–5 million population tier was anchored by three transformational Louisville investments:

⚜️ Ford Motor Company — $1.9 billion to retool Louisville Assembly Plant for next-generation EV production on an innovative assembly tree model

⚜️ GE Appliances, a Haier company — $490 million to add 800 new consumer products jobs at the most advanced laundry device manufacturing facility in the world

⚜️ Foxconn Technology Corporation (FTC). — $174 million to add 180 new tech positions and return consumer electronics manufacturing to American soil

These wins reflect what's possible when a region commits to attracting transformational investment across advanced manufacturing, technology, and the industries that define the economy of tomorrow.
