This summer, we had the privilege of working alongside an outstanding group of interns. Throughout the summer, they demonstrated professionalism, curiosity, and a strong commitment to learning while making meaningful contributions to our team. We appreciate all their hard work and dedication and look forward to seeing where their careers take them.

On Friday June 26th, Keith Lovell Boykin was sentenced to 10 years to serve in the Tennessee Department of Corrections. The defendant pled guilty to Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Sell or Deliver and Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. The case was prosecuted by our Major Crimes Unit and investigated by Officer Wesley Carpenter of the Brentwood Police Department.

Today, we recognize Juneteenth, a day of historical significance that marks the end of slavery in the United States. More than 160 years ago, the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation brought freedom to those who had remained enslaved, representing an important milestone in our nation's history.

In honor of this federal holiday, our office will be closed.

On May 19th, 2026, a Williamson County Jury found Mark Billings guilty of Driving Under the Influence – 3rd Offense; Driving On A Revoked License Due to Two (2) Prior Convictions of DUI; and Violation Of The Open Container Law. The charges stem from a 2024 investigation that began when Sergeant Odendahl of the Brentwood Police Department initiated a stop of a silver vehicle driven by Billings. During the stop, Sergeant Odendahl observed numerous indicators of impairment, and subsequent chemical testing of Billings' blood revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.041 and methamphetamine. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Zachary Lambert, with assistance from Assistant Victim Witness Coordinator Emma Williams.

Following the announcement of the verdict, Billings' bond was revoked, and he was taken into custody. Sentencing was held on June 8th, 2026; Judge Woodruff sentenced Billings to 17 months and 29 days in the Williamson County Jail – the maximum possible sentence for the above charges.

Our office is closed today, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day. We pause to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. May we never forget their courage, selflessness, and dedication.

Yesterday, April 23rd, our office hosted a walk in honor of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

General Edmonson read the Tennessee Crime Victims’ Bill of Rights. Mayor Rogers Anderson proclaimed this week as Crime Victims’ Rights Week. The proclamation was read by County Commissioner Guy Carden. The Crime Victim Service Award was presented to Detective Matt Griffin of the Brentwood Police Department by last year’s award recipient, Victim Advocate Amy Crossland of the Brentwood Police Department.

We want to thank everyone that joined us in our efforts to stand in solidarity, raise awareness, and support survivors, families, and our community. This walk is more than just steps—it’s a movement toward healing and hope.

FELON CONVICTED ON WEAPON CHARGE

On Monday, April 6th, Isaiah Jamar Coffee pled guilty to Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. Coffee was sentenced to 6 years to serve in prison at 85%. The case was prosecuted by our Major Crimes Unit and investigated by Officer Connor Jones of the Franklin Police Department. Coffee had a G***k handgun after he had been previously convicted of a prior drug felony. That gun has been seized and forfeited to the Franklin Police Department.

S*x Offender Convicted

On Monday, April 6th, Mario Buchanan pled guilty to two counts of Violation of the S*x Offender Registry-3rd or Subsequent offense. Buchanan was sentenced to serve 4 ½ years in prison. Mr. Buchanan is required to report in person every month and he failed to report as required. Mr. Buchanan had last been convicted of a violation of the s*x offender registry in 2018. Senior Assistant District Attorney Mary Katharine Evins prosecuted the case on behalf of the State and Detective Megan Valentin investigated the case for Franklin Police Department.
