Happy Independence Day, Macon County!
We love serving this community, and the people in it!! To help ensure you don't end up spending your holiday in the back of one of our ambulances, your Macon County EMS crews have a few quick requests for the festivities:
🎇 The "Hold My Beer" Rule: If your fireworks strategy begins with the phrase "Hey, watch this," please reconsider. Roman candles are not wizard wands, and artillery shells are not meant to be launched from Uncle Bob's hands. Leave the big booms to the pros, and always keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby!
✨ Sparklers are Festive Blowtorches: We know they look pretty, but sparklers can burn at nearly 2,000 degrees. That is hot enough to melt glass! Please keep a close eye on the kiddos and make sure they aren't practicing their sword-fighting skills with them.
💧 Hydrate with Actual Water: We know the cooler is packed with sweet tea and adult beverages, but sadly, those don't count as hydration. It’s hot out there! Mix in some actual H2O!!
🍔 Protect Your Eyebrows: Lighter fluid is not a marinade, and eyebrows take months to grow back. Establish a solid "kid-free and pet-free zone" around the grill, and keep the fire extinguisher handy just in case those burgers get a little *too* flame-broiled.
🚗 If your celebration includes alcohol, make sure you have a designated driver. We want everyone making it home safely tonight.
Our trucks are washed, our gear is checked, and your EMS crews are highly caffeinated and ready to roll if you have an emergency. If you need us, call 911 and we’ll be there in a flash!
But seriously... please just eat a hot dog, enjoy the show, and make good choices. 😉
🚑 Have a blast, and stay safe, Macon County! Happy 4th! 🚑
