Sharing some more data from the Master Plan meeting and online survey.

The first photo shows the most used programs/facilities.

The second photo shows primary reasons people don't use the park. While we can't give you more free time, we can definitely add more programs and improve on getting the word out. We can also improve on #3, condition of the park and started working on that this past season.

The third photo shows 55% utilize other parks and/or recreational facilities and why.

It has been a while since we updated you on where we are in the Master Plan process for Jim Roberts Community Park. We are almost finished with the final drawing for how we would like the park to progress over the next 30 years and can't wait to share it with you.

Until then, we will share information from the public and online meeting and questionnaire.

Our first slide has to do with the top facilities requested from the public meeting. Prior to conducting the master plan; the parks board had already discussed the resurfacing of some tennis courts to pickleball (to be completed May/June 2023) and a dog park. Now that we know the location of the dog park within the master plan; we will be finalizing a budget to complete that project and setting dates for completion.

We are thankful for the additional capital improvement funds from Kentucky Downs/The Mint that are allowing us to make improvements such as these for our community.

We are also thankful to our community as we have already had a commitment of in-kind labor for the excavation work for the dog park.

Stay tuned to our page for updates and any fundraisers that may be needed to complete the project.

Franklin-Simpson drive-thru holiday display is Christmas come early! - WNKY News 40 Television

Meghann with WNKY Television made stop at the park yesterday. We appreciate her working us into her schedule.

I could have told her multiple stories about how much joy this has brought to us at the park. We could tell about the families that come through multiple times in one night so their children can sit in a different seat as they drive through or of the families that have driven through every night.

We could tell of being able to hear families singing along to the music provided on 91.9 by WFKN as they drive through.

But most importantly, we could talk nonstop about a community of donors that helped us put this together in a very short period of time. Though we are only half way through this first year event, we are already planning for next year.

Hope to see you here over the next few weekends! Friday-Saturday-Sunday from 6-9 pm through January 1. There is no fee but we are accepting monetary donations for next years exhibit and non-perishable food items for our local food pantries.

If you know this vehicle and the person driving, please notify us or the Franklin Police Department.

This is a dark blue Chevy, male driver and was in the park at 2:17-2:18 pm

Apparently the rules of the park do not apply to them. With the back and bottom area of the park being closed off, they decided to cut across fields and were driving extremely fast by the playground (with children playing) because, in his words, we need to “open the “expletive” gates”.

While we are a public park, that does not necessarily mean it is accessible 24/7 and there are times certain areas will be closed off. All amenities are accessible at this time with the sections that are open.

Important Information Regarding Girls Soccer:
High School and Middle School girls soccer can begin voluntary conditioning starting June 15th. The dead period was originally scheduled for June 25th-July 9th has been canceled and the dead period due to COVID-19 took its place. Tryouts will be announced in July for both teams.

If you are interested in playing soccer for the FSHS or FSMS Lady Cats soccer team, please fill out the appropriate form below and the coaches will contact you. We will have a Zoom parent/player meeting with the new head coaches and assistant coaches very soon to answer questions, explain how conditioning/practices will be affected by COVID-19 and how we anticipate the season to go. The date and time of that meeting will be announced soon. Players must have a current sports physical prior to attending conditioning/practices (Free Athletics Physical day info at the bottom of this post).

Is there an event with fireworks in June 30?
Sure would be nice if our girls could get the same recognition
Quick question..I've started a inline hockey league and I need a location to practice..the rink up in BG is reserved for their rec leagues and even when I reserved time. Someone referred me to your park...I live right around the corner on Cedar street..the suggested your AG building..is it's a large open BB court size inside? ..I drove the park this AM it's a beautiful park (we just moved here from AZ) are the tennis courts reserveable? Could we get permission to use those? wish I could build a rink..:) and start a rec league here! Who do I talk to?

Who is in charge of the community park in franklin? And why do they refuse to open the gates, which causes major issues for the several hundred parents and children that are there all the time for football practice and games and have to fight to get through the one way traffic and park and block each side of the gates. This is the most idiotic thing I have ever seen and needs to be addressed ASAP!!!! I thought this was a community park? Why can the citizens not use it???
Has there been any ideas of an adult league? Just curious.
