If a five-year-old understands it, grown adults have no excuse.

This week’s Safety Brief comes from Luis’ daughter, Mackenzie. As the child of two Marine veterans, the colorful language and aggressive knife hand are apparently hereditary.

Her message is simple:

Drinking and driving is bad. She does not give a f& #@ what your excuse is, your mom would not be happy, and you don’t want Mackenzie to come looking for you.

Call a sober friend. Get a designated driver. Use a rideshare. Just get home safely.

Share this with someone who needs a Safety Brief from a five-year-old.

One Team. One Mission. Zero DUIs.

“Why Not!

Whiskey Valor Foundation has a strong purpose that can directly benefit our junior service members. As a senior leader with 21 years of service, I want to help spread the word about a resource that can protect your bank account, your career, and most importantly… LIVES!

Joining Team Whiskey Valor for the Army Ten-Miler gives me another opportunity to lead, advocate, and make sure our service members know that resources like this are out there when they need them.”

Paycheck hit? Make sure your weekend plans include a safe way home.

In Episode 3 of the Whiskey Valor Safety Brief, Fat Chief | Joey Sawyer reminds us that responsible drinking starts before the first drink.

If you are under 21, do not drink alcohol. If you are over 21, do not provide alcohol to anyone underage.

If you plan to drink, plan ahead:

🚘 Choose a designated driver
📱 Use a rideshare
🏠 Stay where you are
🤝 Make sure your friends have a safe plan too

Do not wait until you have been drinking to figure it out. The legal, professional, and personal consequences are not worth it.

Thank you to Chief Sawyer for partnering with Whiskey Valor Foundation and helping us look out for the military community.

Take care of each other. Share this with your weekend crew.

One Team. One Mission. Zero DUIs.

Proof / ABV: 104 Proof / 52%
Price: $139.99 (sample provided)
Blend: 49% 11-Year Indiana Bourbon / 30% 10-Year Indiana Rye / 21% 12-Year Kentucky Bourbon

• 10-Year Indiana Rye: 95% Rye / 5% Malted Barley
• 12-Year Kentucky Bourbon: 75% Corn / 13% Rye / 12% Malted Barley
Finish: 32 months in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks previously used to age Isle of Jura single malt Scotch whisky

👃 NOSE

Dark chocolate, grapes, black licorice, and smoky oak. There's definitely some of that Scotch influence coming through, but the smoke isn't overpowering. A nice blend of sweetness helps balance everything out.

👅 PALATE

A lot more of the Scotch influence shows up here. Smoky oak and black licorice take the lead with little hints of grape and sweetness mixed in, but noticeably less than what I was getting on the nose.

🔥 FINISH

Long, sweet finish with tons of grape and dark chocolate. Interestingly, the smoky notes pretty much fall off completely and leave all that sweetness behind. Awesome finish.

🎯 OVERALL IMPRESSION

Huge thank you to Bardstown Bourbon Co. for the continued support. I'm not a Scotch fan, so I'll admit I was a little cautious going into this one. Surprisingly, it's really well balanced.

There are hits of that Scotch influence throughout, but there's a pretty even blend between the traditional whiskey notes and what those Isle of Jura casks bring to the table. The palate definitely leans the most Scotch for me, but even there it never gets too in your face. And that finish? Easily my favorite part of the pour.

I'm glad to have this bottle to drink and share, and I'm really curious to hear what others think as more people get their hands on it. If you're someone who enjoys both Scotch and bourbon, I think you're going to love this one.

⭐ RATING: 8/10
