Make sure there are no cold spots in food (where bacteria can survive) when cooking in a microwave oven. For best results, cover food, stir and rotate for even cooking. If there is no turntable, rotate the dish by hand once or twice during cooking.

WIC Formula Recall UPDATE--Please read the entire post as there is a lot of useful information included.

First and foremost, we care about the health of your baby. If your infant has received recalled formula, and is showing signs of illness such as fever, diarrhea, fatigue, and poor appetite, please contact your baby's doctor.

We have received new guidance from the state WIC office in regards to the Similac Formula Recall. Here are the steps to take:
1. Verify that the product’s lot number has been recalled by using the Abbott Product Lookup (similacrecall.com).
2. If the formula you have on hand is in fact recalled, discontinue using the recalled product immediately, but please keep cans for potential refunds/exchanges.
3. To get your formula replaced, there are a few options:
a. Check with store where the recalled formula was purchased to determine if they can exchange the recalled product with the same formula. Please hold on to any cans that you are unable to get replaced. Participants should bring their receipts and photo ID to the retailer. Note: Many retailers will not have formula to exchange due to the recall or supply shortage. (see next option)
b. If the formula is not able to be replaced at the store, please contact your local WIC agency. WIC agencies will be able to collect recalled formula and re-issue formula onto your eWIC Card during business hours.
c. If unable to exchange at the retailer, and unable to get to your local WIC agency, participants may call Similac customer service at 1-800-986-8540 for information on a refund or replacement.

Families can, and should be prepared to, purchase equivalent formulas of other brands (see below) using SNAP benefits or other funds. It is expected that stores will be in very low supply over the weekend due to this recall and the prior shortage.

Unfortunately, our WIC office will be closed on Monday, February 21st due to President’s Day. We will reopen on Tuesday, February 22nd at 8:00am.

We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding during these wild times.

Local WIC Retailers include: Walmarts(Fredericktown, Farmington, Desloge, & Perryville),
Harps(Fredericktown, Park Hills, & Farmington), Moore’s Grocery(Marquand), Schnucks(Farmington), & Save A Lot(Farmington).Checking various stores may increase your chances of finding your baby's formula.

We wish everyone a wonderful weekend.

02/17/2022

We will be dismissing at 12:30 today due to the forecast. Please let us know if you need to make alternate transportation arrangements for your child.

02/16/2022

We would love for our community to join us this Saturday (February 19th) for a hot meal.
Our volunteers will be serving Drive-Thru Style in front of the middle school while supplies last. We hope to see you soon!
