Freeport Elementary will educate the whole child to be future ready. Our History:

Freeport Elementary opened August 2018.

Freeport Elementary is the result of three campus that have been reshuffled, due to the Freeport feeder pattern adopted in 2015. Freeport Elementary is comprised of staff from Jane Long Elementary, Velasco Elementary and OA Fleming Elementary. In August 2018, we opened our new building and moved from the OA Fleming site to this site, as Freeport Elementary. We are located at 1200 West 11th Street

in Freeport, Texas. Our students are from the city of Freeport, Surfside and Oyster Creek and range from pre-kindergarten through second grades. We have around 540 students and 80 staff members. Our Campus & District Goals

Each student will be equipped to achieve the highest level of success in all curricular areas. All staff will actively contribute to organizational excellence. BISD will provide adequate resources through alternative funding and sound financial stewardship. BISD facilities will be equipped and maintained to exceed the highest standards of quality, safety, and innovation. Technology will be a fully integrated means for instruction and operations. Partnerships between the district and community will be strengthened in order to increase shared responsibility and trust.

Next Wednesday, June 10, Brazosport ISD will serve as the host site for a full-scale emergency response training exercise coordinated by the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office as part of ongoing school safety and emergency preparedness efforts aligned with Texas House Bill 33 (the Uvalde Strong Act) and Texas school safety preparedness requirements.

The exercise will be held at the Brazoswood High School 9th Grade Center. Community members in the area may notice an increased presence of law enforcement, emergency vehicles, first responders, and other emergency response resources. The Houston Rockets are currently promoting their Swish into Summer Reading program for students in kindergarten through grade 5.

This program encourages students to continue reading throughout the summer and earn prizes along the way, including free Houston Rockets merchandise, books, and invitations to events like the Houston Rockets Reading Celebration and Summer Bash.

Update on the camp. We are taking a close look on the weather and right now we will continue as planned. If rain is an issue we will move the camp indoors but only if there is lighting and heavy rain. We will notify if any changes as early as possible.

It’s hard to believe today is the last day of school! We’ve loved watching our Dolphins learn, grow, and shine throughout this amazing year. 🐬✨

Thank you to all of our families for the love and support you’ve given our school this year. We truly couldn’t do it without you!

To our 2nd graders — we know you will do great things at Lanier, and we wish you all the best on your next adventure. 💙
