Jason Renshaw, 35, of South Buffalo Township, will be seeking the Republican Party nomination for Armstrong County Commissioner. Renshaw, a full time farmer, owns and operates Renshaw Family Farms. The farm was originally a dairy farm, now a beef and hay farm and even has expanded into Agritourism. The farm also hosts weddings at their new facility, and is host to their annual fall Pumpkin Festiva
l. Renshaw, a lifelong resident of Armstrong Co., grew up on the farm that he owns and operates today. He graduated from Slippery Rock University, where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Safety and Environmental Science, with a minor in Human Resources. After graduation, he started his safety career while he continued to work and expand the family farm. Finally, after 5 years of working the safety field and farming, he decided to become a full time farmer. He still continues to use his safety skills by teaching classes to thousands of US Steel workers in Pittsburgh, through the Community College of Allegheny County. Throughout his life, He has been involved in the county. Renshaw is currently on the Armstrong County Tourist Bureaus board of directors, Republican Committeeman for South Buffalo and also on the Armstrong County Farm Bureaus board of directors. Renshaw is running for Commissioner because he cares about the community and the citizens that live here. He is ready to make this county work for its citizens, not have the citizens’ work for the county. He sees areas of county government that need to be reviewed. He believes we need to work within our means and find ways to operate within our budget. Also, he believes finding ways to improve doing business in a more financially responsible manner. Such as, cutting costs where we can, and utilizing our resources better. He wants to focus on Tourism, Energy and Healthcare as His main platform. He believes that if we harness the resources that Armstrong County provides, it will help our economy by creating more jobs in the area and lower our costs of doing county business. He believes that Tourism is a key asset to this county and has many untapped resources that needs to be marketed. The care of our senior citizens is very important also. These people helped build this county for the youth of today, and we need to make sure every effort is taken to ensure their care. Renshaw feels with his blue collar background, He knows what it takes to work long and hard hours. He is a successful businessman, farmer, and entrepreneur. He knows what it takes to roll up his sleeves and get things done. He is not afraid of hard work, but afraid our county’s hard work is being taken advantage of and needs to be fixed. He will bring a common sense approach to governing this county and with all his work and life experiences, He feels he is the best candidate for Armstrong County Commissioner.
