The DCR would like to thank all who made our 2024 Patriot Hunt a success. We had the excellent guide services of Hagen Mitchell, Wells Mitchell, and Mike Jaskinia, they boasted a 100% success rate. Then the great kitchen crew Zelda Gracia, Jacquelyn Graff, and Bryce Mitchell who provided wonderful service and meals. Many thanks also to the sponsors who contributed time, gear, and money, Mark Brown and Mark “Bubs” Brown Jr., Billy Corbin, Muy Grande, and the Killam family. As always, Ken Barnard, founder and CEO of Patriot Hunts is a treasure and an inspiration, and Mark McAfee is a pleasure to have on hand for support and whatever needs done. Thank you everyone, and especially our veterans!

Patriot Hunt 2024 at the Duval County Ranch is in the books! It’s always rewarding to have our veterans enjoy the experience of a south Texas whitetail hunt! We appreciate their sacrifices for our freedom and hope we give them a unique, fun, and rewarding time as a small token of gratitude.

We are still inundated with hacked accounts contacting us on Messenger, so much so we gave up on answering them. If you would like information on the ranch, on pricing of hunts, general guidelines, etc., please to https://killamranch.com/duval-ranch That should help.

To everyone who has sent a legitimate inquiry through messenger to this page, we apologize for not getting back to you. We have been overwhelmed with "Is anyone available to chat" and "I have a question, can you help" messages. All exactly those words, and SO many of them. To answer most of the serious questions, there are no leases available, and there is a waiting list should any become available. There are no more hunts available for this year, we are all booked up. Thank you all for your interest.

New DCR record deer taken by Mr. David Killam. This completely native monster scored 241.2 and was 7 1/2 years old! A testament to intelligent management and great native genetics, he’s a beautiful trophy.

The Duval County Ranch was host to the South Texas Ranch Brigades June 22-26. This program teaches young attendees hands on experience in ranching. Besides proper livestock handling, evaluation of forage and range conditions, the role of wildlife on a ranch, and many other related topics, the youth are encouraged in communication and teamwork. They are out marching at 5:30 am (fosters teamwork, and I imagine wakes everyone up) and are still learning and doing activities late into the evening. They put in full days! The volunteers who teach and run these programs are simply amazing. Their dedication to sharing their knowledge with future generations is remarkable. It’s very heartwarming to see so many excellent young people interested in the future of agriculture. Everyone at the DCR is always impressed by the quality of the youth who come, and by the volunteers teaching and running the program. I urge you to check out the South Texas Ranch Brigades fb page for more pictures and info.
