Good afternoon Kingwood. Progress is being made on restoration efforts, however more incidents of fallen trees has caused new outages. Overall steady progress is being made.

Municipal building is open for cooling and charging tomorrow from 9-7pm and Wednesday from 9-4:30pm.

See below for the latest street by street restoration efforts. 179 households are still without power. 55 or so are expected to be restored by 6pm tonight.

Water and ice are available at ShopRite for those affected. See the courtesy counter for vouchers.

Good afternoon Kingwood,

JCP&L continues to restore power to the area. 289 customers remain out of power in Kingwood.

Additional customers will be restored today with the bulk of the remaining customers being restored tomorrow weather permitting. See the attached road by road for current estimates. Global ETR is 11:30pm 7/8.

Severe weather and flash flooding is in our forecast beginning 9pm today through 9pm tomorrow night. Keep an eye on your basements and charge your backup batteries for your sump pumps as water in basements may be an issue.

Good afternoon Kingwood and Happy Independence Day(well mostly except for our dependency on JCP&L in modern America).

JCP&L is not publishing a global estimated time of restoration as of yet. Kingwood Township has 330 residents out of power. About an hour or so ago JCP&L restored our largest outage in the area. We expect the 651 area will be next and then they will work on the smaller outages.

Our first responders and dpw crews have been busy responding to multiple incidents ranging from power lines and trees down to motor vehicle accidents and a land search along the Delaware River for a missing party.

Please use caution as there are many power lines still down and roads closed. Do not go through the barricades. They are there for your safety and the safety of the first responders and equipment crews.

All, the smoke smell and haze you are seeing is likely from the fires at McGuire Ft Dix. If you see smoke or fire and are concerned there may be an issue, don’t hesitate to call 911. This is similar to the Canadian wildfire smoke experienced over the past few years.

Notice to Road Users, Route 519 Closure: A serious motor vehicle accident has necessitated the closure of Route 519 from Babertown Point Breeze to Fairview Road for the next 2-4 hours. Please plan an alternate route.

Good Afternoon Kingwood. We're down to 263 residents out of power. JCP&L has opened up Ice and Water at both Shoprites in Hunterdon County.

With long duration outages, often CO alarms will start to sound as Generators may be blowing CO into your home. If you CO alarm sounds, Dial 911, get out of the house to fresh air and the fire company will ventilate the house and assist with returning your home to a safe level.

Levels of carbon monoxide exposure range from low to dangerous:

Low level: 50 PPM and less
Mid-level: Between 51 PPM and 100 PPM
High level: Greater than 101 PPM if no one is experiencing symptoms
Dangerous level: Greater than 101 PPM if someone is experiencing symptoms

When Will Carbon Monoxide Levels Set Off Your Alarm?
40 PPM: 10 hours
50 PPM: 8 hours
70 PPM: 1 to 4 hours
150 PPM: 10 to 50 minutes
400 PPM: 4 to 15 minutes

Carbon Monoxide Levels and Their Symptoms
If your carbon monoxide alarm sounds, or you suspect you are experiencing symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, you should immediately leave your home and call 9-1-1. Here are some of the symptoms you can expect from carbon monoxide exposure:

50 PPM: None for healthy adults. According to the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), this is the maximum allowable concentration for continuous exposure for healthy adults in any eight-hour period.
200 PPM: Slight headache, fatigue, dizziness, and nausea after two to three hours.
400 PPM: Frontal headaches within one to two hours. Life-threatening after three hours.
800 PPM: Dizziness, nausea, and convulsions within 45 minutes. Unconsciousness within two hours. Death within two to three hours.
1,600 PPM: Headache, dizziness, and nausea within 20 minutes. Death within one hour.

Carbon monoxide (CO) levels in a home are typically measured over time. Carbon monoxide detectors are time-weighted alarms, meaning they measure the buildup of carbon monoxide in a house as time passes.

10:30am Update: 70 customers have been restored. Total customers out of power in Kingwood is now 293.

Good morning(well not really for some) Kingwood. JCP&L is currently reporting over 23,000 customers out of power. 5,000 of these customers are in Hunterdon County with 363 customers located in Kingwood Township. Use the Map legend below to determine the size of the outage. The larger outages get repaired first and then they work their way down to the single customer outages. Unfortunately for some this may mean being out of power for several days.

We will post restoration times when available from our JCP&L contact. Until then, stay away from downed power lines, avoid closed roads(yes it applies to everyone, please don't go through the barricades), and stay warm.

Good Morning Kingwood. Starting July 8th, JCP&L will begin Phase 1 of the Baptistown Substation service area improvements. Work will be performed on the roads indicated in blue. The yellow line represents the flow of work. This body of work is expected to continue into December with the goal to improve reliability to the grid and the customers served by the Baptistown substation.

During this time please use caution while driving these roads as the work may narrow roads to a single lane.

Brightspeed Telephone Issues:

Landline telephone provider Brightspeed is currently experiencing a widespread technology failure. The Hunterdon County Communications Center has determined this is affecting many police department and administrative phone lines. If the public attempts to contact their municipal police department and are met with a busy signal, they should hang up and dial 908-806-5817 to reach the dispatch center. This number should also be used by our partner agencies attempting to reach the dispatch center for any needs. The 911 and Text-to-911 systems remain fully operational. The outage is affecting the Center's ability to receive reports from alarm companies (police, fire, & medical related alarm activations).

There is no timeframe for when Brightspeed expects to complete repairs to rectify the failure.

Good evening Kingwood. No this is not an early April Fools Joke. Please plan for alternate routes of travel on or about 4/1 for 5 business days if you use Route 651 in your daily travels. Details from Hunterdon County Roads and Bridges below.

Date Posted: March 17, 2025�County Bridge K-47 is located 2/10 of a mile from Federal Twist Road and 2/10 of a mile from Brook Road. Starting on or about April 1, 2025, the bridge will beclosed to all traffic daily between the hours of 8:30 am – 2:30 pm for approximately 5 working days, weather permitting.�County crews will be making Priority 1 repairs.
A detour will be posted.
