My journey into City Council is a culmination of decades of service to our community. I had no ambition to be involved in politics, and the word “politician” was usually tied to something negative. However, sometimes a calling finds you when you’re not looking, and you must decide whether to embrace change and invite possibilities, or close your eyes and ignore what’s right in front of you.

I wrote this blog in 2022 to share why I decided to run for City Council, and the core reason still remains. I love Frisco, and I look forward to continuing to serve you! 💖

Grateful for our Frisco Fire Department heroes as they head to Los Angeles to assist with the devastating fires. Thanks to their training and participation with the Texas Interstate Fire Mutual Aid System, they’re ready to support other communities in need during fire emergencies. Our hearts are with those who have lost their homes, and we pray for the safety of our Frisco firefighters as they help battle the flames.

Texas is deploying five strike teams to California to assist with wildfires. Frisco FD is sending a fire truck with four personnel that will be teamed up with Plano Fire-Rescue, McKinney Fire Department, City of Allen Fire Department and Greenville Fire-Rescue, TX.

“If you’re gonna play in Texas, you’ve got to have a fiddle in the band!”🎻🎶

In keeping with this new tradition at the NCAA FCS Football Championship, I was proud to present the marching band directors of North Dakota State University and Montana State University with special keepsake fiddles for their dedication on the field! 💚🎻💙🎻

Being in the marching band is extremely hard work, and I love getting a chance to recognize the students and directors who bring the energy and winning spirit to their team! Congrats to both, and especially the NDSU Bisons for clinching their 10th win in Frisco!! 🏆🎉💚

🎉 Team Tammy is kicking off 2025 with exciting news . . .

With the support of my family and friends, I’m thrilled to announce that I am seeking re-election to Frisco City Council! 💖

Serving our incredible community has always been my passion, not just these past 2 1/2 years on City Council, but for decades prior. For me, public service has never been about power and position—it’s about YOU, the people. My commitment is to listen, to learn, and to lead, always putting Frisco First.

We've accomplished a lot together in my first term, but there's still so much more to do. It's been my honor to represent you as a steward of Frisco, protecting and growing our assets while ensuring we remain relevant, innovative, and sustainable.

As a 20-year resident of Frisco and a new empty nester, I have the time, energy, and drive to give myself fully to this impactful volunteer role. I’ve attended every single Council meeting since 2022, met regularly with constituents, and represented you locally, regionally, and nationally at countless events. I’ve devoted myself to learning all aspects of our city operations, whether it’s visiting transfer stations and waste water treatment centers, meeting with our department heads, riding along with our police and fire, and studying the 480-page city budget.

I’m proud of my track record in my first term:

🏡 Lowered your Property Tax Rate three consecutive years, implemented a Senior Freeze, increased the Homestead Exemption, and balanced the Annual Budget (not as easy as it sounds!)

🚒 Increased the budget for Public Safety and salaries for ALL 1,600 City of Frisco employees

🚘 Expanded multiple roads and explored Smart Microtransit options as a member of the Regional Transportation Council (yes, traffic is tough in Frisco, but we are working as fast as we can!)

🌳Preserved Open Space, approved the Grand Vision for Grand Park with Phase 1 in design, opened multiple parks, added more pickleball courts, expanded hike and bike trails for greater walkability in our 70 square miles

🙌 Created more opportunities for our residents to serve with new Boards and Commissions including Natural Resources Board, Arts and Culture Advisory, Hike and Bike Advisory, and Multicultural Advisory Boards; implemented a new Annual Report process for greater transparency and accountability

🚂 Prioritized the Rail District and Downtown Revitalization, investing $70 million in the heart of our city to increase walkability and create 4th Street Plaza; hired a new Downtown Liaison and launched new grants and marketing campaigns to assist our local businesses

🎸Spearheaded the Frisco Renaissance by adding “Arts” to our evergreen Strategic Focus areas, resulting in new arts and culture options in Frisco: hosting the Academy of Country Music Awards at the Star, obtaining the State Designation of a Music-Friendly Community, launching the first Cultural Affairs Master Plan, and securing a 20-year partnership agreement with Broadway Across America and a sustainable business plan for the Center for the Arts.

🛍️ Reached a record $96.6 million in economic impact through tourism and established the Tourism Public Improvement District to assist in marketing for future events. Hotel Occupancy revenue hit an all-time high of $13.1 million in FY2024. We welcome more spending in Frisco to help fill our sales tax buckets!

💼 Secured our first Fortune 100 company (TIAA) and brought more jobs in multiple sectors to Frisco, resulting in the 2024 #1 Best Job Market in Texas by Smart Asset; scored 26 HQ project wins in 2024, and 21 with NO incentives. (That’s right- Frisco FOMO is real!)

📍With only 16% of Frisco remaining to develop, I voted to approve several transformational projects that reflect the highest and best use of the parcels of land, including The Mix (fixing the “Hole on the Toll”), Fields West (think Legacy West but bigger and better), Universal Kids Resort (the first of its kind in the world), Firefly Park (mixed use development near PGA), and Toyota Stadium improvements + soccer district (20-year city-owned facility).

NONE of these multi-million dollar projects reached into your wallet; they are all paid for by other funding sources like Sales Tax Revenue, Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones, and private partners. This is how we can dream big and create outliers that generate additional sales tax revenue for our city without impacting your property tax rate!

These are just a few highlights from my first term, and we’re just getting started. I am also meeting with residents to learn more about their concerns on Mental Health, Disability Advocacy, Universal Design, Historic Preservation, and Animal Services. If you have thoughts or questions on any issues, I invite you to contact me at [email protected]. Though I do not have all the answers, I welcome your input and collaborative solutions. I believe that Progress moves at the speed of Relationships, so I’d love to work together.

I'm more ready than ever to help Frisco become the best place to live, work, play and STAY. I look forward to serving you in my second term on Frisco City Council!

Looking back on 2024 has me reflecting on my Frisco memories. This photo is from 2014, my very first involvement with the City of Frisco. It was a community roundtable for the Comprehensive Plan, and I was so excited to share my thoughts about Frisco’s future.

It’s fun to see some familiar faces at the table, and I never imagined that 10 years later, I’d be serving on our City Council! I’m so thankful to live in a city that values community input and encourages people to get involved. Here’s to continuing to work together to make Frisco even better in 2025! 💖🎉

Frisco is gearing up to host the Dallas Open for the first time at the Ford Center at the Star! ⭐️🎾🎉

Previously held in New York and at SMU in Dallas, the tournament was upgraded in 2024 to an Association of Tennis Players (ATP) 500-level tournament, which is the fourth highest tier of men's tennis tournaments. They were looking for a bigger home to accommodate the international fan base that comes with top-tier tennis. We’re thrilled to have them here in Sports City USA from Feb 1-9!

The Frisco Public Library offers more than books and a Maker’s Space—it’s also a great place for live music! 🎶🎻

I had so much fun "playing" jingle bells with The Allen Philharmonic Orchestra during their Christmas concert at the library. This family-friendly program featured holiday classics like The Polar Express, The Nutcracker, Sleigh Ride, and more. Frisco Arts Foundation Chair Karen White and I performed a fun “Christmas Kitchen” duet during one of their tunes. It was my first time as a guest artist on pots and pans, instead of my violin! 😊🍳🎅🏻

For me, Christmas wouldn’t feel complete without the sounds of the season—even if it’s a little unconventional. 🎄🔔 Check out my Instagram to watch the video!

Advocacy literally means to give a voice to something. It was enlightening to meet with advocates from our disability community and hear their concerns for universal design, transportation, and services for adults with disabilities to thrive in Frisco. Thanks to Dylan Raferty, Sue Park, Amanda Hall, and Cindy Badon for sharing your lived experiences with me. I look forward to more meaningful discussions and changes to come!

Lots of ways to experience the holidays with our community! 🕎🎄🎶🇺🇸

After a rainy delay, Frisco’s Christmas Tree Lighting finally lit up the night outside City Hall — and it was worth the wait! 🎄✨🎅🏻

We also celebrated Benjamin from Starwood Academy for his incredible winning artwork, now illuminated and on display! 🖼️✨

And there’s more — the Light the World Giving Machine has officially arrived in Frisco Square! ❤️✨ This one-of-a-kind "vending machine for good" lets you give back in a hands-on way. With options from $5 to $150, you can donate cereal, hygiene kits, and winter clothes — or even gift a GOAT (yes, a real goat!) to someone in need across the globe. 🌍🎁

100% of the proceeds go to purchase items for 5 local charities (including Lovepacs-Frisco) and 2 international charities, making it easy to spread kindness and create lasting impact right from our city.

The Giving Machines will be at Frisco Square through December 19th. Huge thanks to Erik and Julie Egan for bringing this meaningful initiative to our community! 💖
