The Gaffney Police Department would like to address and clarify information circulating on social media regarding a recent assault that occurred within the City of Gaffney.

On Sunday, May 10, 2026, at approximately 11:32 AM, Officers with the Gaffney Police Department were dispatched to the parking lot of the Cherokee County Administration Building, located at 110 Railroad Avenue in Gaffney, South Carolina, in reference to an assault that had occurred. Officers were dispatched at approximately 11:34 AM and arrived on scene at approximately 11:40 AM.

During the investigation, Officers reviewed surveillance footage from the area. The footage shows the female victim placing her children into a stroller when a black male suspect is observed waving his arm toward the female. The suspect then pulls an object from underneath his shirt and approaches the victim. The suspect can be seen placing his hand on the stroller, which contained the victim’s child.

Surveillance footage then shows the suspect repeatedly striking the female victim with a weapon while the victim can be heard screaming loudly. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
Officers and Detectives have been, and continue to be, actively investigating this incident and have made significant advancements in the case.

The Gaffney Police Department would also like to address a photograph that has been circulating on Facebook claiming to identify the suspect involved in this incident. At this time, the Gaffney Police Department has not publicly released any suspect information and does not plan to do so until the suspect is in custody.

The Department can confirm that the individual pictured in the circulating social media post has been identified as Andre Logan, who had an active warrant through South Carolina Probation, Parole and Pardon Services and has since been arrested on that outstanding warrant. At this time, no additional information will be released regarding his possible involvement in this investigation.
This incident appears to have been isolated in nature. A public statement was not immediately released because investigators had developed several credible leads and there was no ongoing threat to the community. The Gaffney Police Department routinely releases information through our page and local media outlets when assistance from the public is needed or when there is an ongoing threat to public safety.

We are releasing this statement at this time due to the amount of misinformation currently being spread online. We would like to remind the public that sharing false or unverified information can negatively impact active investigations and potentially hinder law enforcement efforts.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Gaffney Police Department.

Community Update – Thompson Park

The Gaffney Police Department would like to clear up some information that has been circulating on social media.

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 7:34 PM, officers were dispatched to Thompson Park (601 S. Limestone Street) in reference to a suspicious item reported as “crack rocks taped to the pole near the swing.”

Officers responded promptly and safely removed the items from the swing set. Initial on-scene testing using two presumptive kits returned inconclusive results. The substance was then further tested by our department’s crime lab, where it yielded a presumptive positive for methamphetamine.

We want to make it clear that this is believed to be an isolated incident, and this is the only report of this type that we have received. Additionally, the substance is not believed to be fentanyl, as fentanyl was specifically tested for on the night of the incident.

Our narcotics Division is actively investigating this incident and is currently reviewing available camera footage in the surrounding area.

At the direction of Chief Gerald Knight, additional patrols have been assigned to the area to ensure the continued safety of our community.

Chief Knight also wants to send a clear message: whether this was an intentional act or not, this type of activity will not be tolerated within the City of Gaffney. We will use every resource available to identify those responsible and pursue charges to the fullest extent of the law.

We want to remind everyone: If you see something, say something. Your awareness and willingness to report suspicious activity plays a critical role in keeping Gaffney safe.

If you have any information related to this incident, please contact the Gaffney Police Department.

And before y’all start…
No, this is not our new patrol vehicle. It’s not April Fools’ Day, so we’re not even gonna joke like that 😂

Enjoy your Monday, stay safe, and don’t make us part of your story today.

🚨 BIG W for GPD 🚨

This evening, Officer Quan Hamilton was recognized at the MADD South Carolina Law Enforcement Recognition Dinner for putting in serious work when it comes to DUI enforcement in 2025 👏

Not only was he a 2025 MADD nominee, but he also took home DUI Enforcer of the Year for a local agency, racking up 65+ DUI arrests this year alone 💪

That’s 65+ impaired drivers taken off the road and lives potentially saved. This isn’t just stats… this is real impact for our community.

Help us show Officer Hamilton some love for going above and beyond to keep Gaffney safe 👏

And quick reminder, don’t be that person: don’t drink and drive. Call a ride, phone a friend, do whatever it takes. It’s just not worth it. 🚗❌🍻

💙 Autism Awareness in Action 💙

This past Saturday, April 25th, 2026, Chief Gerald Knight and officers from the Gaffney Police Department were proud to be part of the 4th Annual Riding for a Cause at S. Bernard Smith and Joe McCluney Park.

Chief Gerald Knight rolled up his sleeves and helped serve food, while our officers were out doing what they do best and that’s connecting with the community. From dancing and laughing to simply spending time with families, it was a day full of positivity, support, and awareness.

Events like this mean more than just showing up, they’re about building relationships, supporting important causes, and standing alongside our community. Autism awareness matters, and we’re honored to be part of something that brings people together in such a meaningful way.

A big thank you to everyone who showed up and helped support such a great cause. We always love being invited to events where we can show our love and support for this community, it truly means a lot to us.
