I JUST WANT TO SAY: BLACK FACULTY

Alexia Walker, one of our members, has been working incredibly hard to bring attention to the lack of Black representation present at the University of Florida among staff, faculty, and the student body.

After spending weeks compiling data and surveying how students feel about this prominent disparity, Alexia prompted a discussion with two esteemed professors at the University of Florida. Dr. Corey McZeal and Dr. Vincent Adejumo both gave insight into the hiring process, the reasons behind the underrepresentation, and how Black educators at UF feel about this issue.

your voice deserves to be heard!! we have outlined some important steps you can take to vote in this upcoming election!

step 1: be registered to vote in the county of your primary residence by October 5th

You can register to vote at RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov or at the DMV, the tax collector’s office, or a voter registration agency
Paper application forms may be found at any county Supervisor of Elections office, local library, or any entity authorized by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to issue fishing, hunting, or trapping permits

step 2: know what the ballot is going to look like

Many counties post sample ballots for each voting precinct
For Alachua County: https://www.votealachua.com/Voters/Precinct-Voting-1/Precinct-Finder

step 3: Research the candidates on the ballot

For every candidate, look up their campaign website to see what issues they care about most

step 4: Vote!!
Elections are on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020 from 7am-7pm!
