Parking is available adjacent to the Courthouse in the Hall County Parking Deck on Spring Street.

This is to provide notice to members of the Bar and the public that the Judicial Nominating Commission for the State of Georgia, established by Executive Order of Governor Brian P. Kemp, is now engaged in the process of receiving names of persons to fill the vacancy on the Superior Court of the Northeastern Judicial Circuit, which was created by the passage of HB 1215 (Act 450) during the 2026 session of the Georgia General Assembly.

Nominations must be received by the Commission no later than August 27, 2026. Nominations should be submitted either by email to Vincent Russo, co-Chair of the Commission, at [email protected] or by letter addressed to: Judicial Nominating Commission, c/o Vincent Russo, 500 14th Street, N.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30318. Nominations should include a current email address for anyone you nominate so the Commission can contact your nominee.

Additionally, the deadline for nominees to submit an application is September 10, 2026. Applications may be submitted to the Commission by email at [email protected] or by mail addressed to: Judicial Nominating Commission, c/o Vincent Russo, 500 14th Street, N.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30318. Applicants should download the application package from the Commission’s website at jnc.georgia.gov/application. Applicants selected for an interview will be notified of the date, time, and location of their interview.

The Commission will select and recommend to the Governor a short list from those applicants interviewed and found to be “qualified” or “well qualified” for this position.

Today, we celebrated an extraordinary milestone as we said “aloha” to Cheryl Higgins during a retirement luau marking her final day with the Hall County Clerk of Superior Court after more than 39 years of dedicated service.

Cheryl’s career has left an indelible mark on Hall County. For decades, she faithfully served the citizens of our community, safeguarding the integrity of our land records and leading the Deed Room with professionalism, knowledge, and excellence.

A special highlight of the celebration came when Chief Judge Jason Deal presented Cheryl with a proclamation on behalf of the Judges of the Courts of Hall County recognizing her remarkable career and lasting contributions to the administration of justice.

In a fitting and unforgettable finale, Cheryl’s last official act as Real Estate Supervisor was to record that very proclamation into the official deed records of Hall County—ensuring that the recognition of her legacy will be permanently memorialized in the county’s official record for generations to come.

Thank you, Cheryl, for nearly 40 years of faithful service, steadfast leadership, and unwavering commitment to the people of Hall County. We wish you every happiness in this well-earned retirement. 🌺🏝️
