Fun weekend in Galena! Our Corn Shucking Team, the "Democracy Defenders", had a great showing in the Galena Bicentennial Corn Boil competition, shucking 400 ears in 20 minutes! Thanks to the Team for doing such a great job and representing the Jo Daviess County Dems so well! And a great time was had by all at the Highland for Jo Daviess Fundraiser party for Tiffany Highland's campaign for the County Board, District 3. Vote Blue November 3rd!

The Jo Daviess County Democrats Corn Shucking Team is ready for Saturday's competition at the Galena Bicentennial Corn Boil. A few of the team members gathered today with all five of our County Board candidates to celebrate our team spirit and eye the amazing trophy created by Big Dave. County Board member and candidate (District 11) Lynn Gallagher holds the trophy, and Lynn took photos of the other four Board Candidates with a few of our shuckers. Featured are candidates Tiffany Highland (Dist. 3), Logan Noe (Dist. 2), Jill Powers (Dist. 8 ) and Jane VanHamme (Dist.16). Corn Shuckers Nan Hoff, Tracy Wiecking, Fred Petersburg, Jill, Logan, Tiffany, John, and MIchelle are ready to win and take home the trophy on Saturday. Good luck Shuckers!

Jo Daviess County is continuing to consider a change to the county’s rural lot-size requirement.

At its July 14 meeting, the County Board voted to send the “40-acre rule” back to the Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals for a public hearing. The hearing will consider changing the minimum lot size for a single-family dwelling in rural areas from 40 acres to 10 acres.

This issue may be of interest to Farm Bureau members, rural landowners and others following land-use decisions in Jo Daviess County.

Come join us to phone bank for Paul Nolley at our office in Galena on the days and times listed below. These sessions are for everyone, beginners and seasoned callers. We’ll be making calls for Paul on our phones using a computer or other device to access the system and script set up by the Nolley campaign. Let's have some fun working together to get Paul elected!
